Details of Severe Tropical Cyclone Errol 29U at 8:00 pm AWST:
Intensity: category 3, sustained winds near the centre of 120 kilometres per hour with wind gusts to 165 kilometres per hour.
Location: within 35 kilometres of 15.5 degrees South, 120.1 degrees East , 355 kilometres northwest of Broome and 385 kilometres west of Cockatoo Island .
Movement: east southeast at 15 kilometres per hour .
Severe Tropical Cyclone Errol has weakened into a category 3 cyclone and forecast to weaken further on Friday. It is moving east southeast and will continue on this track towards the west Kimberley coast tonight and on Friday.
Errol is expected to weaken to a category 1 cyclone by Friday afternoon as it brushes the tip of the Dampier Peninsula. It is forecast to weaken below tropical cyclone strength as it crosses the west Kimberley coast on Friday evening, most likely between Cape Leveque and Cockatoo Island, north of Derby.
