Intensity: tropical low, sustained winds near the centre of 75 kilometres per hour with wind gusts to 110 kilometres per hour.
Location: within 9 kilometres of 27.0 degrees South, 153.1 degrees East , 55 kilometres north of Brisbane and 45 kilometres south of Maroochydore .
Movement: slow moving .
The centre of Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred made landfall around 8pm AEST over Bribie Island, and moved west onto the mainland around 9pm AEST. Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred is expected to move inland more rapidly tonight while weakening.
Damaging wind gusts are currently occurring about Moreton Bay and extending into some northern Brisbane suburbs due to a southeasterly wind surge interacting with Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred. These winds are expected to ease overnight as Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred moves further inland. A Severe Weather Warning is current for these conditions.
Heavy rainfall is likely to continue over southeast Queensland and northeast New South Wales during the weekend as Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred crosses the mainland coast this evening and moves inland.
Alfred crossed Moreton Island as a category 1 tropical cyclone just after midnight (AEST) on Saturday morning.
Alfred then weakened below tropical cyclone intensity at 6 am (AEST) Saturday morning.
