In just a few weeks, actress Caissie Levy will star as Elsa in the new Broadway version of Disney's blockbuster "Frozen."
Before she starts previews of "Frozen" in February, she stopped by ABC7 News to talk about a couple of San Francisco concerts she's performing.
Levy will be going through her extensive Broadway resume at Feinstein's at the Nikko, so ABC7 Mornings anchor Reggie Aqui helped her warm up her voice by doing a fun sing-off of her career.
Check it out in the video player above.
Click here for tickets to catch her Friday, November 17th and Saturday, November 18th concerts at Feinstein's at the Nikko

If Frozen Fever wasn’t enough to tide you over to Frozen 2, Olaf’s Frozen Adventure should do the trick. The 22-minute short will play before Coco and it is substantial enough to address the themes of the landmark animated feature. Plus, it’s a Christmas classic that could become a perennial. Like Die Hard.
Anna (Kristen Bell) and Elsa (Idina Menzel) prepare for the Yule bell ceremony which hasn’t happened since their parents died. Their excitement to celebrate with the town is short-lived as all the citizens go right home to celebrate their individual family traditions. I gather they all developed their own traditions in the absence of a town tradition for decades but I may be reading more into that than intended. What’s everyone supposed to do while Elsa is in isolation, not celebrate Christmas? Of course they came up with their own.
What is sure is that Anna and Elsa missed out on having a Christmas tradition while Elsa was in isolation. Olaf (Josh Gad) tries to fix this in a perfectly misguided sidekick way. He goes around town collecting everyone’s traditions to bring back to them. The moral of Olaf’s Frozen Adventure is positive. The importance of tradition is not the superficial trappings of it, although Olaf makes an astute point about hanging stockings over a fire hazard. But traditions are important because of with whom you share them.
It’s relevant that the holiday brings up some old wounds that haven’t all healed. Anna and Elsa reunited in Frozen but they’ve still missed out on a lot of time together. This is a nice way to acknowledge there’s still room for more healing. In addition to connecting to Elsa’s time in exile, the story connects to “Do You Want to Build a Snowman” in a satisfying way too.
The four new songs of Olaf’s Frozen Adventure come fast in the first act. There’s no “Let It Go.” They’re surely saving that for the feature sequel but the Yule Bell song is a catchy chorus a la “Belle” from Beauty and the Beast. Kristoff (Jonathan Groff)’s “Ballad of Flemingrod” is a funny solo about a gross troll. Olaf sings “That Time of Year” and “When We’re Together” is another good sister song. Two songs reprise at the end so there is a consistent bookend of music and touch on the same memory of sisterly activities that the movie’s songs do.
While Olaf explores all the holiday traditions, there is some funny commentary on the commercialized holidays. It’s all in the spirit of Frozen, twisting the traditional. The movie twisted the traditional Disney Princesses and this twists Christmas specials. There is an interlude animated via a knit scarf that’s really beautiful.
It’s great that Olaf’s Frozen Adventure is going theatrical. It can surely play on TV every year too, but who are we kidding? It’ll sell its own DVDs every Christmas, but the first viewing will be this year with Coco.

                  http://www.belairmommie.com/single-post/2017/11/15/OLAFS-FROZEN-ADVENTURE
Thank you, Walt Disney Animation Studios for having me at a pre-screening of OLAF'S FROZEN ADVENTURE with my kiddo. It was an unforgettable night, my heart was overfilled with gratitude and joy. My little one can’t stop talking about OLAF'S FROZEN ADVENTURE, especially his chat with Josh Gad! I’ll get to that in a minute, but first, let me give you the scoop. After our screening of OLAF'S FROZEN ADVENTURE, we had a Q&A with Josh Gad (voice of “Olaf”), Directors Stevie Wermers-Skelton & Kevin Deters and Producer Roy Conli. Afterwards, we were privy to the composing duo, Kate Anderson and Elyssa Samsel who performed one of the new, four songs featured. That’s right, in this 21-minute animation OLAF’S FROZEN ADVENTURE there are 4 new songs.
Y’all my heart was going to explode when my little sidekick raised his hand to ask a question, actually he had his hand raised the entire time and as the Q&A was wrapping up Josh Gad stopped and acknowledged my kiddo, Mr. Gad even pointed out that he’s had his, “hand raised the entire time and what’s your question.” First I’d like to point out what a gentleman Josh Gad is for taking the time to address my son's question and most importantly that he was aware that P had his hand up the entire time. As a mom, it warms my heart, this extremely talented actor took the time to validate his littlest fan, my son, which had me over the moon. When you get a chance check out our pictures from that night! Now, I can’t say what the question was because I don't want to give away the 21-minute flick but the question was absolutely awesome because Josh took his time explaining and validating his feelings and making sure all kids know, that all the animals in the movie are friends and get along.
Moms get ready to have the soundtrack on repeat for holiday cheer! From Arendelle to your home, Olaf’s Frozen Adventure will have you singing, leaping and smiling. Even better, the soundtrack is available now! Get it before had, it will get you into the festive spirit. The movie takes place during Elsa and Anna first holiday since opening the gates, they quickly realize they might not have a family tradition. Here’s where the shenanigans with Olaf ensue. As olaf sets off to find every family, families tradition in Arendelle, Elsa starts to look for theirs in the unlikeliest place.
I have to share before I became a mom, we celebrated Christmas but really we didn't have a tradition per say. As soon as I became a mom, I knew I wanted one tradition for my son, and that was to get him a new ornament every year so by time he goes away to college, has a family of his own, he’ll have his own ornaments and can share it with his family in the future. I make sure the pieces are a limited edition and on the bottom of each box I write the year. Now if you’re wondering if I place precious ornaments on his tree that’s in his room, no, I keep them in the Christmas container, his tree ornaments are the everyday fun ornaments that if they broke, it’s no big deal. Another tradition we have, baking cookies and attempting to build a gingerbread house. Attempting is the key word, between the two of us laughing, trying to keep the walls up with the frosting provided is hilarious. First off we lick the frosting, which doesn’t leave much to put the house together and even then, the walls never stay up, and when they finally do, they’re crooked. Lol, one hot mess. So there you have it, that’s our traditions, I’d love to hear yours!
OLAF’S FROZEN ADVENTURE is great for kids of all ages, as young as 4, your kiddo and yourself will absolutely love everything about this 21-minute adventure about sharing, love, and family.

John Lasseter Taking Leave of Absence From Pixar Amid "Missteps"
"It’s never easy to face your missteps, but it’s the only way to learn from them," the executive stated.
Disney Animation head John Lasseter is taking a leave of absence from Pixar after acknowledging "painful" conversations and unspecified "missteps," he wrote in a memo to staff on Tuesday obtained by The Hollywood Reporter.
Lasseter's statement arrived as THR was preparing a story detailing alleged misconduct by the executive at Disney/Pixar.
Lasseter is best known as one of the founders of Pixar, which began as a part of the graphics group at Lucasfilm. Along with Ed Catmull, he popularized CGI in animation with early films like Toy Story, A Bug's Life and Monster's Inc.
In 2006, after Disney purchased Pixar, Lasseter was named the chief creative officer of both Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios. He has since become the face of all Disney animation, overseeing the recent resurgence of the studio's namesake brand with properties like Frozen and Moana.
Lasseter, who directed Toy Story and Toy Story 2 among other Pixar films, produces or executive produces every Pixar project and he executive produces every WDA feature. While Lasseter has only won two Oscars (one is a specialty Oscar for his work on Toy Story), Pixar has racked up an impressive eight best animated feature wins. Under Lasseter's purview, WDA has picked up three wins, most recently with last year's Zootopia.
Pixar films have grossed over $6 billion at the domestic box office. The Emeryville-based company is set to release their next feature, Coco, this week. Pixar is currently working on a sequel to The Incredibles and the fourth Toy Story installment. WDA will release the Wreck It Ralph sequel next year.
Lasseter's full memo to employees is below.
I have always wanted our animation studios to be places where creators can explore their vision with the support and collaboration of other gifted animators and storytellers. This kind of creative culture takes constant vigilance to maintain. It’s built on trust and respect, and it becomes fragile if any members of the team don’t feel valued. As a leader, it’s my responsibility to ensure that doesn’t happen; and I now believe I have been falling short in this regard.
I’ve recently had a number of difficult conversations that have been very painful for me. It’s never easy to face your missteps, but it’s the only way to learn from them. As a result, I’ve been giving a lot of thought to the leader I am today compared to the mentor, advocate and champion I want to be. It’s been brought to my attention that I have made some of you feel disrespected or uncomfortable. That was never my intent. Collectively, you mean the world to me, and I deeply apologize if I have let you down. I especially want to apologize to anyone who has ever been on the receiving end of an unwanted hug or any other gesture they felt crossed the line in any way, shape, or form. No matter how benign my intent, everyone has the right to set their own boundaries and have them respected.
In my conversations with Disney, we are united in our commitment to always treat any concerns you have with the seriousness they deserve, and to address them in an appropriate manner. We also share a desire to reinforce the vibrant, respectful culture that has been the foundation of our studios’ success since the beginning. And we agree the first step in that direction is for me to take some time away to reflect on how to move forward from here. As hard as it is for me to step away from a job I am so passionate about and a team I hold in the highest regard, not just as artists but as people, I know it’s the best thing for all of us right now. My hope is that a six-month sabbatical will give me the opportunity to start taking better care of myself, to recharge and be inspired, and ultimately return with the insight and perspective I need to be the leader you deserve.
I’m immensely proud of this team, and I know you will continue to wow the world in my absence. I wish you all a wonderful holiday season and look forward to working together again in the new year.
                    John

John Lasseter's Pattern of Alleged Misconduct Detailed by Disney/Pixar Insiders
One longtime Pixar employee says Lasseter was known for "grabbing, kissing, making comments about physical attributes."
Rashida Jones is still credited as a writer on Toy Story 4, the next installment in the beloved franchise. But, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter, the actress and her writing partner at the time, Will McCormack, left the project early on after John Lasseter, the acclaimed head of Pixar and Walt Disney Animation, made an unwanted advance.
Jones and McCormack did not respond to repeated requests for comment. Disney declined to comment on the alleged incident though a studio source said the departure was over "creative differences." Multiple sources spoke with THR but asked not to be named out of fear that their careers in the tight-knit animation community would be damaged.
Based on the accounts of former Pixar insiders as well as sources in the animation community, the alleged incident was not an isolated occurrence. One longtime Pixar employee says Lasseter, who is well-known for hugging employees and others in the entertainment community, was also known by insiders for “grabbing, kissing, making comments about physical attributes.” Multiple sources say Lasseter is known to drink heavily at company social events such as premiere parties but this source says the behavior was not always confined to such settings.
Now Lasseter is taking a leave of absence from Pixar after acknowledging "painful" conversations and unspecified "missteps," he wrote in a memo to staff on Tuesday. The leave is said to be for six months, a source tells THR.
"I have always wanted our animation studios to be places where creators can explore their vision with the support and collaboration of other gifted animators and storytellers," Lasseter stated. "This kind of creative culture takes constant vigilance to maintain. It’s built on trust and respect, and it becomes fragile if any members of the team don’t feel valued. As a leader, it’s my responsibility to ensure that doesn’t happen; and I now believe I have been falling short in this regard."
The executive added: "I’ve recently had a number of difficult conversations that have been very painful for me. It’s never easy to face your missteps, but it’s the only way to learn from them."
It is hard to overstate Lasseter’s value to Disney. He is known as the genius behind Pixar films from Toy Story to Inside Out to Coco, opening Nov. 22. He took charge of Walt Disney Animation in 2006 and lead a revival that included such gigantic hits as Frozen.
