我第一次向(参观)小组谈论(罗本岛监狱的情况)时，心里觉得很不好受。
大家看一下，句子里面没有”when”,翻译的时候却有”当。。。的时候”。这是因为句中的the first time用作连词，引导时间状语从句，相当于含有when，意为“第一次……时”。
名词词组做连词引导时间状语从句的有很多，现在也常会出现在月考题里，积累一下。

例如
①The first time I flew in a plane I was really nervous.
我第一次乘飞机时确实很紧张。
②The next time you come here，call me to meet you at the airport.
下次再来时打电话，我去机场接你。
③She came to the scene the moment she heard the news.
她一听到这个消息就到了事故现场。
④I recognized her the moment (that) I saw her.

1．devote v．献身；专心于
devote oneself to献身于；致力于；专心于
devote...to...把……奉献于……
devoted adj.忠实的；深爱的
be devoted to深爱；致力于
devotion n.关爱，关照；奉献；忠诚
大家注意，这个高频考点，要么单选，要么改错。笔记：devote to +doing；当然它的名词devotion to 也是要+doing。因为这个to在此处是介词而不是to do那个to。大家回忆下高中几个to+doing常常出现在咱们的试卷里的。
来看看：look forward to；pay attention to；contribute to；be accustomed to；还有due to。

5.The Great President
As the founder of the republic, the president had many good qualities. Before coming to power, he was a generous lawyer. He was willing to selflessly help everyone who turned to him. He accepted no fee to offer legal guidance and opinions to those who were out of work or uneducated. Later, believing all mankind to be equal, he devoted himself to stopping the unfair anti-black laws. He set up the Black Youth League and was voted to be the leader. However, though he kept peaceful principles without violence and terror, his mean enemies still blew up his house and attacked his relatives, and he himself couldn’t escape being sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Not fearing of the prison guards’ cruelty, he kept active and begged no mercy from them. As a matter of fact, he was always hopeful and never lost heart during the stage even though he was in trouble.
Finally, people rewarded him with the leader’s position and a gold blanket.

学习内容
1) 单元的单词复习
大家把下面的词汇的中文自己翻译一下。完了不会的拿出自己的课本课后单词订正答案。不会的，翻译错误的请记录在笔记本上。这就是你这个星期要经常看看的单词，也是你明年高考的加分内容。

有人会问，那为什么楼主不直接公布答案呢？因为必修①后大家积累了一定词汇，现在随着复习的深入，需要童鞋们培养独立自主学习的好习惯了，因为时间不允许我们今后再来一次一轮复习了，所以第一次复习也是最后一次复习；因而，第一次就要做好完全的掌握。绝对不做水过鸭背的事，更不能奢侈认为今后有机会，当下得过且过。

首先是词汇词组部分吧
1．survive vt. survival n. 存活，幸存 survivor n. survived from
2．design n． be designed to do sth.

5．worth prep. n. adj. be worth＋n.“值……”
be (well) worth doing “(很)值得做”(用 well修饰；用动名词的主动式表示被动含义)
be worthy of＋n./of＋being done =to be done / It is worthwhile to do sth./doing sth.
worthy 可做前置定语，而 worth不能。
如：a worthy gentleman

6．in search of＝in one's search for 寻找；搜寻
7．belong to 属于；为……的一员
(1)不被动不进行(2) vi. “适合待，放在”，没被动done用法。(3)belongings n. 财产所有物
8．in return 作为回报；作为交换 in return for为……作为回报 in return;
9．at war处于交战状态: at war; At rest; at peace
10．take apart 拆开，拆散: Took apart; taking things apart
11．think highly of 看重；器重 (被动：be highly/well/much thought of。)
