The first skeleton discovered (which is the largest of 3) measures 18.26
meters with teeth 18.6 cm. Only 47 teeth were found in a single row.
This raises questions: Are others missing, or was there a megalodon
teeth completely different from other sharks?
The skeleton found differences in the skeletons of Carcharodon
carcharias and Isurus hastalis (2 cousins potential megalodon). The
skeleton of megalodon is also more massive, it has 194 vertebrae, thus
more than the great white shark. The largest vertebrae of the backbone
are 26 cm wide, are more and more widely spaced concave, the megalodon
was very flexible on its sides, allowing it to move much faster and turn
quickly to the side.
According to Klaus, the megalodon would not have the same shape as
modern sharks, it would have been a "big bump" on his back, while the
tail is similar to the great white shark or mako."
