I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Daniel Gillies said yesterday [read that here] that you take a long time to primp. Do you want to comment on, or respond to, that?
(groans and laughs) I’ll tell you how I feel about it.
There are call sheets that they put an allotted amount of time on for each actor to get ready for shooting.
I’ll bring you all the call sheet for proof!
I get called in a half an hour before shooting.
Everyone else? One hour. [audience laughs] So, contrary to popular belief… I’m briefest.
I think they’re just confused because I look the best. [audience laughs]

Who has been the biggest influence in your life?
My family: my grandfather, parents. My grandfather, for sure. This ring actually [the one he was wearing that was mentioned earlier] he got it for me.

What’s it like working with JoMo?
I love Joseph Morgan.
They had a hard time casting Klaus.
I told Julie Plec that I met this guy and talked to him and I could tell that he’d be perfect for Klaus.
I didn’t know anything about him, but I thought he’d be perfect for it.
I told her [JP] that his name was Joseph Morgan and she said she’d contact him. A month later he got cast.
He’s [JM] very committed to what he does.
He’s always got everything planned out and prepared and I appreciate that.
Not everyone – especially on the CW – takes it all that seriously.
It’s great working with him.

Saw you in Roll Bounce, so I wanted to know: do you like to roller skate?
(laughs) Well, I’m a hockey player, so I try to play, and that’s on ice skates. I mean, I can roller skate. I don’t, like, go roller skating on Venice Beach or anything… in my short shorts… oiled up, shirtless.
That would just be so ridiculous. …I did it once. [audience laughing]

What is your favorite Marvel character?
What’s Marvel? (laughs) [Someone yells out “superheroes”] They’re all Marvel? Well, not spiderman – because of the leotard. [People are yelling out random Marvel characters – someone yells out Pinky and the Brain] I’m gonna go with Pinky and the Brain.
[audience laughs – someone asks him which of the two he’d be] I want to be the Brain, but I’m leaning towards Pinky. (laughs)

What would be your dream role?
Catcher in the Rye is my favorite book.
I wouldn’t want to see it made into a film, but if in some dream reality it was made into one, I’d like to play Holden Caufield.
But I wouldn’t want anyone to see it.
Something by Mark Berman or Aronofsky.
Or Stanley Cooper.
He’s really the best.

If you could write for Stefan, what would you write?
I’d make Stefan dark. Dark, dark, dark, dark. I’d do Flashback episodes every other episode. I’d explore every era – except for the 1970’s age – roller skating flashbacks. (laughs) But a lot of flashbacks, a lot of dark Stefan.

Describe for us a day in the life of Paul Wesley?
Well, it varies day to day. It depends what time we start shooting.
I usually get up about 7am, eat whatever food is set out [at craft services], and shoot about 14-15 hour days.

Was it harder to play an Angel or the Ripper?
The Ripper was harder – TVD is one of the most challenging roles I’ve ever done.

For the last question: what actor are you most inspired by?
Marlon Brando.
Generally, though, I’m more inspired by good directors.
I think that any actor can be manipulated into whatever they need to be if they have a good director.
