Haha! Thanks for understanding. It's really hard to find the opportunity to speak Chinese (at least for me). My stepdad is white, so we speak English all the time, even at home.
So it's really not my fault!! :)

Hahahaha. It's really no problem. I think the "Canadian" way of looking at things makes it much easier. Your mindset really does change things.

Basically. Since I've been here so long and was very young when I first started learning the language, it's basically a second mother tongue for me.
Ooo, I thought of a question to ask: I've been accepted at both McGill and UofToronto for PhD in immunology. Which do you think is better? I have to decide soon and I have NO idea.

ummm. My French is awful. I can probably find my way back to the hotel if I'm in France, but that's about it. Even though Canada is bilingual, people outside of Quebec and some parts of the maritimes generally speak English only.

It was. When I first arrived here, I only knew the alphabet and probably "hello", since English classes have just barely started in grade schools in China. It didn't take very long though, I think I was fluent within the year. I would recommend watching a LOT of TV with English subtitles, and read English books/newspaper like crazy even if it's hard.
I should also tell you that your English is excellent! Are you studying the languagein school as a major?

That's awesome! I was just in Beijing last summer. My grandparents and a lot of other family are there too. I was around WangJing (like, "gaze at beijing?").

I love 后海!! Lots of bars and pretty cool atmosphere at night. I went there last time with some friends from Canada and they thought it was probably one of the best places we visited in Beijing.
Expensive, though :(
