I sing because good music is the most direct way to a person's heart. There is nothing more influential than music. The beauty of uplifting music is the most precious gift one can give. It inspires, lifts, strengthens, cheers, and moves people. Singing is the best way I've found to share with others the joy I've been given through music.

I grew up in Ogden, Utah as the second youngest (My twin is at the very bottom.) of eleven children. As a family we spent a lot of time singing together and my two closest brothers and I spent our days dreaming of becoming the next kid N’Sync. When I went to high school and started singing in the choir, I discovered the beauty of a group of singers harmonizing perfectly together. Music became a way of living, loving, and serving. I kept that feeling with me throughout my mission in Frankfurt, Germany, and immediately upon returning home I resumed my passion for singing as a member of Vocal Point!

I just graduated from BYU with a degree in American religious history, and have no idea what to do with it. If I end up being a history teacher, I apologize in advance to any of your kids that may be in my class. I love singing with these great guys and truly enjoy every crazy minute of it. My family is awesome. My Mormon mission in Seattle was awesome. BYU is awesome. Strep throat, I have recently discovered, is not so awesome.

Fact: McKay loves 90′s music. Fiction: He is an accomplished arm wrestler. Fact: McKay speaks fluent Spanish and spent an amazing 2 years on an LDS mission in Vina del Mar, Chile. Fiction: I beat Chuck Norris in an arm wrestle…with my leg. So, music is my life, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I enjoy writing, arranging, recording, producing, singing and listening to music..and pretty much anything else that has to do with music. Growing up I also enjoyed playing football, making home movies, and teaching hip hop dance classes at the local dance studio. I come from the world’s greatest family. True story. I study Commercial Music at BYU and will, one day, sing with Rascal Flatts.

I grew up most of my life in Eagle River, Alaska and I love the outdoors. Hiking, camping, fishing, kayaking, river rafting, etc. I sang in my high school swing choir and also did several musicals. At school I am studying Facilty and Property Management! It is a fun and exciting major with a broad range of career opportunities, of which I will decide upon soon. I spent the last 3 years at BYU a member of the Folk Dance Team where I met my wife, Amanda. We have been married for almost 3 years.

你们这个组合是怎么形成的？
Jake:vocal point成立差不多20年了。一开始本来是想组成双重四重唱，但面试时在两个人间难以抉择，所以就把他们都留下来了，因此vocal point独特的九人和声就这么形成了。现在这个组合是从去年秋天形成的，我们这一年度过了一段很美好的时光，sing off就是锦上添花了
为什么你们想参加sing off？参加这个节目对你们来说意味着什么？
Robert:作为vocal point的一员，我很高兴能有机会和别人分享音乐的美好。原来每次演出完，我们能直接和观众交流，更好地了解他们，这大概是我最享受的经历之一。我发现每个人都有独特的故事，他们对音乐的感受也都有些许差别。而现在这个节目能让我们把音乐传递出去并和成千上万的人分享。我们这个组合的人都认为这样一个一生一次的经历不可错过。
你们的信仰（后期圣徒）对你们的表演有什么影响？
Keith：我们的信仰主导着我们表演的各个方面，当然也包括如何准备表演。每次排练开始前我们都要祈祷：为了我们自己，为了观众，也为了参与到制作中的每个人。我们要确保表演传达的信息都是积极向上，鼓舞人心的，并且和我们教堂以及学校倡导的高道德标准相一致。比如有一次，我们问制作人员能不能允许我们换一首歌，而不是他们给我们的那首歌，他们很支持我们并且允许我们换了。

歌唱对你们来说意味着什么，为什么你们选择加入纯人声演唱组而不是那些更传统的乐队？
Keith：我3岁时就开始唱歌了，我一直很喜欢它为人们提供了情感宣泄的渠道。在某些时候，当语言无计可施时，音乐却能传达思想，交流想法和感情。我喜欢在纯人声演唱组里演唱是因为，不像乐队（我也呆过），歌手和观众间没有隔阂。你没法躲在乐器或者谱架后，只关乎你的声音和观众的聆听。这种亲密联系总让我震颤，这是我在别处都体会不到的。
Robert：如果你问我作为一个音乐人我做些什么，我会告诉你我拉小提琴。我已经学习投身于它19年了。我在很多管弦乐团，以及民谣摇滚乐队呆过，我也很享受这样的经历，但歌唱是独一无二的。因为只有你，没有乐器帮你定调或阻碍你。这感觉更私人，你可以在任何地方和任何人一起唱歌。在我的成长过程中，我很喜欢Bobby McFerrin （如果你看过第一季的话，最后finale请过一个长辫子黑人老头来表演，就是那个很牛的老头），也很喜欢听纯人声演唱，所以当有朋友邀请我去试试vocal point时我就觉得很适合我，也一定很有趣。我唱不了高音，bass很适合我。我喜欢跳舞，喜欢让人们开心，希望分享鼓舞人心，积极向上的音乐。而vocal point允许我做所有的这些！
你们中间有人结婚吗？参与这样一个组合（节目)对你们的家庭有什么影响？
Jake：在我来洛杉矶两周前我结婚了。所以在我离开前我们还来得及度蜜月，买家具~在我比赛这段期间，她给了我最好的支持。把她留在那对我来说很艰难，但她的鼓励激励我一直向前。中间她也过来看过我几次。不过这也不完全是坏事，人们不是总说“离开会使你的心更渴望”
我买了你们的CD，你们选歌范围很广，从经典的“No，Not Much”，到更流行的“Superstition”各种歌曲都有，你们是怎么选歌的？
Robert：vocal point的成果绝对是集体合作的结果。每年开始前我们都会聚在一起随便漫想愿意演唱的新歌，然后讨论，投票。年末我们又会讨论，然后从大概25首歌中投票选出5,6首要录音的歌。有时我们根据听众的喜好，有时如果有人马上要离开这个组合，我们就要确保收录有他精彩独唱的歌，不过有时后我们就是想把一些歌搞出些新意。3年后，我们已经录了足够的歌曲能发一张新专辑了。这是3个不同组合（指人员变动）的合辑，因此我们就能确保vocal point的每个成员都出现在CD中
中间记者还提到Mario song，不过这歌完全不了解就不翻了，从Keith后面的回答感觉是很创新的编排，我就把Keith谈创新的那部分翻一下。
Keith：vocal point很棒的一点是更新速度很快，各种新鲜想法源源不断地涌入。我们创新的传统持续至今。不管是流行的电台歌曲，歌剧选段，还是体育主题曲串烧，vocal point从来不会做传统的纯人声演唱。

Ross likes to talk in the third person. He really can sing higher than some women. It’s kinda freaky. He developed his rock-style voice singing along to alternative rock artists on the radio such as Dashboard Confessional, Aerosmith, Train, etc. He has played several instruments during his childhood including the violin, guitar, ukulele, and piano.
I love sports! Ping pong, ultimate frisbee, tennis, basketball, and football have got to be my favorite to play. I enjoy the challenge of competition.
Other facts: I served a mission for the LDS (mormon) church to Mexico and I am fluent in spanish. I am a mechanical engineering major at Brigham Young University.

I love my peanut butter and honey with banana sandwiches. Anyone else? Oh, I was also BYU Intramural Champion in Inter Tube Water Polo this past year. And I smell a repeat in the oncoming semesters.

I sing because of the positive impact it has on the lives of our listeners and myself. There have been countless times when only music was my outlet where I could truly express what I was feeling inside. I sincerely believe that the song of the righteous can be a prayer unto our God and in return, He allows us to be a great instrument in his hands to allow the listener to feel something very special. In short, I sing to praise God.

I was originally born in Provo, UT into a True Blue Cougar family but for the majority of my life, I’ve spent it in the Seattle, WA area where I grew up a huge Seattle Mariners fan. I spent two years of my life serving and teaching amongst the Korean people as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Basically, I love Koreans, I love Korean, and I love Korean food (say that ten times fast!). I’m pretty sure we will all someday be eating Kimchi and rice in heaven.
Sports and music are what keep me sane while majoring in Mechanical Engineering and double minoring in Music and Mathematics. Call me a nerd. I derserve it. But really, I love to socialize and meet new people. If there is any excuse to get out and be active in any kind of way, I’m there in a blink of an eye!
