I like your monochrome arts for they are more nostalgic and romantic than colorful ones, genuinely making me wandering in there world. THANK YOU!:D
Just a tiny tip here.I guess you may use larger contrast and add more blacks/whites so the figure will be clearer someway.
Lynn, I found some awesome sentences that might be helpful. They are from a fanficion and combinations of English and French. Although not quotations from Conan Doyle's book and originally suiting a love-making scene, they are exceedingly beautiful. I feel they may perform in some other ways.

improve my English-badly. But it's fine~haha

But I'm afraid it would be very hard to find pictures to match them.
As we all know, they're (mostly for Sherlock) so conservative to express their
real feeling for each other in the series.
(Oi, what do you by the "real" feeling?)
To express my thought clearly, I would like to use Chinese as following:
我做黑白的图大部分原因我也喜欢这种复古的感觉，而且能够拉近历史的距离感
（就像倦抒之前说过的）
但是还有一个原因就是黑白的图能够掩饰我技术上的不足。。。嘿嘿
这些图都是我自己截的，我的片源不够高清（而我那破电脑放不出蓝光的
）
所以图片不太清楚，我用了锐化和增加对比度的方法，不过效果有限
