If instead we used pure Han clothing on one side, the resulting image would seem like two different peoples instead of the same one transitioning from uncinicized to sinicized. Sinicization is not to represent the adoption of Chinese clothing, but instead the adoption of Chinese system and culture, and so Qing-style Manchu represent that in our opinion, as they did precisely that.
