In an interview with Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter Milan chairman and owner Massimo Moratti said : "I do not really see the need to sign new players. In that regard, I may not sign Dirk Kuyt - contrary to recent rumours. However, our coach Rafael Benitez may need the Dutchman to have more options in the squad. Kuyt is quite versatile and can be useful to Benitez, who knows him well. We'll see what happens. .... As regards Javier Mascherano, he was one of our targets. But, I was planning to sign him only after selling some of my players. We did not sell anyone (except Mario Balotelli), therefore I am not going to make an attempt for the Argentine midfielder".
