I’m checking in this time from Cincinnati. I flew in really late Sunday night from Copenhagen. I traveled with my dad who is with me here. I was exhausted after the long flight and went straight to bed, but I was up pretty early next day for a 9am practice.
As many of you know, I won the tournament last week in Copenhagen! I had a great week there, and it was really exciting to win the title in front of my home crowd. I always get pumped up to play in front of my home fans, and they helped me get through some tough matches. I think it’s great that Denmark now has such a big tennis event, and I hope that it will inspire kids to play. You may have noticed my special hairdo during the final on Sunday. One of my friends did it for me and I liked it a lot. It was different than how I usually wear my hair, but it was fun to change it up.
After practicing and training Monday morning in Cincinnati, I rested for a few hours before doing an interview for the WTA and then interviews with American Express. The interviews went well, and you’ll see some cool stuff from American Express during the summer. I had been feeling under the weather a little bit since getting to Cincinnati, probably from being jetlaged, so I needed those few quiet hours beforehand.
I already hit for a couple of hours today to get used to the slightly different surface. I had been playing indoors last week, but it hasn’t taken long to get used to playing outdoors again. After my morning practice, I went to buy myself an IPad. I’m still learning all the different applications, but I absolutely love it!
I won’t be playing until Wednesday, so I still have some time to get used to the hot summer weather here. I’m excited for the US summer season, and I hope you guys will cheer me on.
