We’ve interviewed Capcom’s Shu Takumi, Ace Attorney creator, and he talked about the series and the new Ghost Trick game. Here you have some highlights:
- Takumi considers the Ace Attorney series finished with Apollo Justice
- Takumi also recognizes the love that many fans have for the series
- Now he is debating whether he should make another Phoenix Wright game, or continue onto new things
- inspiration for the Ace Attorney games comes from mystery novels that Takumi read when he was a young boy
- “we’ll definitely move onto the 3DS with our ideas. I really liked the 3D camera and gyro sensor possibilities, and I’m already thinking of ways for taking advantage of it”.
- His favorite characters might be Phoenix and Godo
- Takumi did the original Phoenix voice, since there were only 5 people in the original dev team

I wonder if that means if more AA games come out, they'd be like Investigations, where it's just a spin-off.
A new Apollo Justice or Phoenix Wright game would be great, though.

I think AJ was pretty good closure, yeah. Kinda sad though. I still want to see what PW would be like on 3DS, but I get the feeling it'll just wind up as the same 'play it like a book, read it a couple times, then don't pick it up again for a year or so'.
For 3DS, since the PW series is sprite based and typically 2Dish, I think it'd be better as a "3DSWare" game than an actual gamecard. It'd make access and purchasing a lot easier too.

"- Takumi considers the Ace Attorney series finished with Apollo Justice".
OBJECTION!
There were a lot of undisclosed thing in AJ. So ending the things in this game will be really lame, I mean, Phoenix unemployed, if that's the case then series should end in Ace attorney 3.
I just hope that he reconsiderer the things and end the series in the form of a fifth game.

Cel-shading could be a very good succesor to the sprites.

I want more Phoenix Wright!
I don't like what they did with the plot in Apollo Justice, so I ignore it and not play it. I hope for another PH game.

A sequel for Apollo Justice where we play as Phoenix Wright again would be terrific... Why won't they do that!?
They milk what we don't want them to milk, and stop developing what we don't want them to stop developing...

So if they believe that the series was done after Apollo Justice, why not make prequel Ace Attorney games where you play as Mr. Grossberg, Mia Fey, and Godot!? They have a lot of history in the series and it would be nice to have court cases with each of these characters.
