The Real Story of David (DongPei)

I am not sure it right or not. But I was really eaten so much potato when I was young. I eaten it almost half year each year. My mom used diffent ways to cook it.

continue to my story about my childhood:

I tlaked that we don't like to eat potato since we eaten it evryday and each meal, so we went out to the field and to find something new for eat.
when the spring comeing, there were much flowers and fresh leaves, and some of them can eaten by people. for example, the new leaves and flowers of acacia(洋槐) is good for eaten in spring. So, we climb up to the tree and took the flower and leaves, and then took them home and give to my mom to cook them by adding some corn-flour, and then steam it in the boiler. it really taste good after that. and we thought that it was better than potato,and also better than eat only steamed corn-flour for us. it not only filled our stomach full instead of potato, and for my family, it could reduce the cost of daily life. almost all of my schoolmates went out together to collect the flower and new leaves of acacia after school in spring. the result is clear, all of acacia trees were "hairless" in spring! and the good thing is it had a little new leaves in summer to keep them alive.
The summer is hard for every family during that time. because almost all of food was gone, and new food was still in filed, there were no potato also. we just had the corn-flour in home, we are no chioce except eaten it. It was difficult to ingest. so, my mom cooked a bowl of pumpkin soup for each of us. it help us feel better.
the autumn was the best season for all of us at that time. because we have enough foods again, and other things.but we still didn't like to eat dinner at home. we had no breakfast at that time, and we had to eat lunch at home due to we are students, we had 4 classes at morning and 3 classes at afternoon. we when out together to get the grass for feeding the pigs of our family after school. we got together after we finished our job, and went to the cron filed to find the corn cob. then, we fired the firewood, and baked the corn cob for dinner, it was really delicious! I still miss it today! the other things we can do is went to the forest and tried to find fruit for eat. and the yam also good to deal. so, the parents known that nobody came back to home had the dinner. they never waiting for us for dinner in autumn.

He! My teacher is a great man!

The class was very interesting. You can image it. There were 4 lines of desks in classroom, two lines for grade 1, and two for grade 3. Each desk was shared by two students. 
Our teacher walked to the front of grade 1, talked to the students and taught something to them. Then, he left tasks to the students to do. After that, he walked to another side of classroom and taught the students of grade 3. He given them tasks and then walked back to grad 1. So, he was much busy everyday, and nobody could help him with his job.

Well, He retired about 15 years ago. He enjoys his life with his wife and grandson now. I went to visit him each time when I went back to my hometown. We talked a lot when I went to visit him, and I told him what I do now, and all of my things. He is a good listener when I talked to him. Some times he said “good job! I am proud of you!” to me. I met him this time when I back to my hometown also. 
He was really proud of me. Because I am only one who went to university among our class which had 14 students before. He remembers all of things of my school life in prime school. He can retell all of our names even he is 75 years old now. I am proud of him also since he taught us so much, not only the knowledge, but also how to be a real person in this world. I really got so much from him. For example, he always treats students as his kids and friends. Anything can be discussed between us. We study together, we play together, we swim in the reservoir together and we work in the field together. But one thing was, he likes a rigorous father when we did something wrong.
He did many thing for us during that time, and I am going to talk about him my future story.

The school life was unforgettable. We were not only studied there, but also did many things in school. We went to the forest to pick up the wild fruits and the mushroom during the summer days. We took them to the bazaar to sell, and save the money for our class. We planted the crop also. Our school had more than 4000 square meters of glebe（田地）, and all of us culture(耕种) it for get foodstuff and sold them to get money for class and school. It was really good things for us, our teachers keep the money for us. The reason was all of our families were poor enough at that time. Our family had no additional money for us to spend when we want to something else. 
The tradition of our school was the teachers and students were going to visit Kunming City when we graduated from prime school. We were live in countryside. And Kunming City is 50 Km away from our home. Almost all of adults in our village never went to there, and go to visit Kunming City was a dream of all of them. So, our teacher gave us a speech at the first day of school life. He told us that we could go to visit Kunming after five years when we graduation. We all were really exciting about it. Then, the teacher told us that all of the costs would be earned by us and be saved by teachers during those five years. Some times the teacher told some of our classmates that they were going to lost the opportunity of visit Kunming if they couldn’t study hard in school. Some of my classmates stayed in school to study just for have the chance to go to Kunming when we graduate.

All of us agreed that, and we told the teacher that we would like to do it. So, we asked the teacher to allow us to go to the forest to pick up the things which could be sold during the summer and autumn. We could pick up the firewood for our teachers also. Our teachers lived in school next to the classroom and they cooked their food by themselves by the way. So, when we finished our job early, the teachers would lead us to go to the forest. We play game there, and we had party in the forest, and we went to pick up things after that. It was really good memory for us. I still could retell all of the games which we did during that time even today. 
 Our teacher would back to home each Saturday. He took the things which we picked to the bazaar and sold them. He kept the money for us. He told us how much money we saved once a semester, and how much we should earn in future. The number of money became larger and larger. We looked forward the ends of our school life, because it means we could go to visit Kunming. 
 It was the autumn of 1982, which was grade 4 of mine. Our money still had a far distance to the number which we need for go to Kunming due to the costs of transportation and living got higher. We all worried about that very much. My teacher holds a class meeting to discuss that big problem. All of us gave many suggestions in that meeting. We made a big decision at last.

The most interesting thing about that trip was about took the train. The students who lower than 120cm could be take train free according the rule at that time. I am 131cm when I graduated from prime school. My teacher told me that I should crouch my head and legs when I get on the train. I did that, and nobody found that. I took train home by paid nothing at last.
I believe that another event of my prime school life I want to mention here is more interesting. I forgot the date already due to it was happen so long ago, even the year. I remember that it was in the early of summer.

There is a big reservoir (水库) at the front of our village, and we could swim in it during the summer. My teacher made a discipline when we studied in the prime school. Swimming after lunch time was forbidden strictly according the discipline. Our teacher told us that swim after lunch is very dangerous, and it is bad for our stomach. 
We often went to swim after lunch since we had much housework to do after school, and we love swimming very much. We have no time to swim after school. Our teacher never knows that, because the reservoir is very big and there were so many trees around it. 
One day, some of boys had bicker(争吵) with our classmates, who were girls. They always wanted to retaliate(报复) us. Finally, the opportunity was coming, because about half of boys in our class went to swim after lunch. Two of girls went to teacher’s office and told him that we were swimming. Our teacher was very angry. He led all of girls went to the bank and took our clothes away. We all stayed in the water. We had no idea about that. Why? The reason was all of us wore nothing when we got into the water. We put all clothes on the bank include the underclothes, in order to keep our clothes dry when we go back to classroom. (Do you think we are cleaver enough?) 
The time is flying usually, but that time was not. It was early summer, and the water was a little bit cold. We couldn’t get out from water due to we wore nothing. We all worried about it; because we knew that our teacher was a serious person. We knew what waiting for us was. We discussed each other, tried to find a way to solve the problem. All of discussion finished after about half hour. It didn’t mean we had idea to solve the problem. Nobody spoke again, because it was too cold to speak. We were felt frozen. The teacher still didn’t come, and the clothes still didn’t come. We tried to find the trees which have branch over the water. We hang up on the branch and tried to make our half body out of water to keep warm. It helps us feeling better.
Our teacher and our classmates came to the bank with our clothes after one hour. All of girls were laughing. Some girls told us that they had stomachache since it was too funny.
Our teacher said nothing. He just put the clothes on the ground. Then, our teacher and those girls went back to classroom to wait for us. I think they knew we wore nothing inside of water, and we couldn’t come out from the water if the girls stayed there. We got out of water after they left, and put our clothes on quickly. We went back to the classroom with the tail between the legs (垂头丧气). Our teacher said nothing to us. He just said “class begins” without smile. We knew that he was very anger with that event. 
We never went to swim after lunch since that time. The teacher knew that we love swimming very much and we had no time to swim after school. He led us to swim some time when we had P.E class during the summer season. By the way, I was named “the water-ghost” by classmates at that time. I love swimming very much, and I am good at it also.
