Truth: EA hasprovided a way for people to make money while not hiding content behindpaywalls entirely, and the INTENT of this was to OFFSET COSTS.
Almost every postabout content locked behind paywalls features this post found on the Sims Forumfrom 2017. In it, SimGuruDrake, who was the community manager at the time (shehas since left the Sims 4 team for another job).
Most of you who have seen this discussion topic before know this post byheart, but I’d like to highlight one important aspect of it:

One thing that isalways important about communication is the intent behind it. The intent forpeople to be allowed to make patreons and allow early access wasn’t so peoplecould just make money for themselves, the idea was to offset costs to buyprograms to make the content. For example, a yearly subscription to AdobeCreative Cloud (which has photoshop, illustrator, etc) costs a couplehundred dollars US a year. If someone was using photoshop to help them createtheir CC in addition to blender or other free programs, EA/Maxis wanted toallow the creator to not have to pay for making the CC out of pocket.
例如,每年订阅Adobe Creative Cloud(包括Photoshop、illustrator等)的费用是几百美元一年。
Can EA/Maxiscontrol what people spend the money they make off of patreon on? No. But itshould be noted that the intent of this action was to help people pay forsupplies for their hobby more than to make a business out of it.
Onto the next truth!
