DJ: Before you came on, we were talking American Idol, and the results last night, and you know, truthfully, when you were the mentor last year, for Rock N Roll Week on American Idol, were you 100% into that? What were your feelings on that?
Slash: Naw, you know, okay, it's sort of a long story. Um I got some friends that work in the production of, in like the major part of the production of American Idol. And when Adam Lambert came out, I recognized that, at least in all the years that American Idol's been around, the only time I saw a stand out artist as far I was concerned, was Adam Lambert. So I called up my friend and said, you know, I wanna come down to the show, and watch this guy. And so when I went down there, they just, you gotta do the show, you gotta do the show. And I turned em down, I was like there's no way I can do American Idol, it's just, it's not gonna happen. And they were very very persistent. And uh, and it's funny, because I wasn't promoting a record, I wasn't doing, I was actually recording at the time. And they said we'll let you do anything that you want, just do Rock Week, just be a mentor. And so finally I said well let me do it, I'll do it if you can let me do it in a club, like the Roxy or something. And they said, okay you got it. And I get to put the band together. Okay you got it. So I did it. And uh, and it was actually a pretty cool time, and Adam is probably one of the, the hottest young capable singers that I've heard. It's a different style of music and everything, but his chops are amazing. So anyways, so it was one of those things, I didn't wanna do it initially, but it was fun to do.
