CO2 is one of the common final product frombiochemcial oxidation or fuel combustion and shows low standard Gibbs energy offormation (−394.39kJ/mol),indicating CO2 is thermodynamically stable species. Various chemicalreactions regarding to the conversion of CO2 are usually of positivestandard gibbs free energy, indicating external energy is needed. For anelectrochemical cell, the CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) has toperformed with power supply. Tabel 1 lists the common chemical reaction occurredin the aqueous based CO2 electrolyser. Besides producing hydrogenand CO from water and CO2 spliting, different value added organicproducts also can be obtained.
