Interview to Valentin Pissiev, talks about the Russian men team, the first part is about Plushenko
http://www.rg.ru/2009/12/03/piseev-site.htmlRussian newspaper: Valentine Nikolaevich, how is Evgeni and how his preparation for the games are doing?
Valentine Piseev: Yes, Plushenko had been ill but that's life. The important thing is that there has not been any more health problems with him. I'm not tired of repeating that Evgeni is very well adjusted. He has a huge desire to train and perform, I think none else has the motivation he has. I pray that he can build up his stamina. I know that he trains 4-3-3 in trainings, wether he will do it in competitions or limite himself to a 4-3 or 4-3-2 I don't know. But he can choose which one, because unlike his many contenders, he has the potencial for it.
Everything is fine with the marks for his jumps, what worries me is the component mark. For example if they put him a low level on his footwork because he is not doing many changes of edhes, that can decide the destiny of a medal. Jumps are easier and that's an element Russians always relly on. The technical controller who will judge Olympics , at a time complained a lot about Yagudin and Plushenko. In one of the seminars, he said that the footwork of the Olympic Champion should be worth only 3,5-5,5 [NOTE: I'm not sure he is talking about the footwork or some of the PCS scores], and then he said that the average for a skater like that should be around 7. Therefore I'm afraid of the judging. And that's a different opinion from our technical comittee chairman Alexander Lakernik and the ISU presiden Ottavio Cinquantta
