Chris Evans: 'Been on the sherry?' Virgin Radio host jokes as Sally Hawkins cries on-air
Chris Evans, Virgin Radio breakfast show host, asked Sally Hawkins if she'd "been on the sherry" after she cried on-air on Wednesday, while receiving glowing feedback on her latest venture.

Chris Evans was taken aback on Wednesday morning's Virgin Radio show when his guest, award-winning actress Sally Hawkins, burst into tears live on-air. She appeared alongside the radio DJ to speak about her latest role on-screen where she voices the snail in BBC's Christmas adaptation of Julia Donaldson's 2003 picture book, The Snail and the Whale.
Based on the tale of an unlikely friendship between a snail and a humpback whale who tour the world together, the show stars lots of British acting talent including Sally and Rob Brydon, who voices the whale.
But upon hearing a clip from the upcoming screening while on Chris' show, emotion overcame her.

Chris made it known that Sally "isn't a massive fan of herself" when watching or hearing her voice on screen.
And, her emotion peaked when the former BBC Radio Two host brought out children to provide her with feedback for her performance in the animation.
"I'm quite nervous," she said after describing how it felt to play the part in the Christmas animation.
"I know why you're nervous," Chris hinted as he was interrupted.
"Is it my voice?" Sally asked, wondering what gave her away.
He continued explaining: "Sally's not a massive fan of herself because she can't watch herself up on the screen."
"Or hear my voice!" She whispered with a giggle.
Chris laughed: "And she couldn't even hear her voice, and she's just heard that clip of herself and she's literally died a thousand deaths!"
Sally could be heard snivelling: "You have made me cry!" She whimpered, as the radio DJ giggled in shock.

"I think it's just early morning emotion and too much coffee. It's Christmas!"
Listeners then heard full on wails from the actress as Chris tried to comfort her: "You are amazing at your job you know that," he reassured his guest.
In a bid to divert from the upset, he suggested: "I'm going to play a song!" As Sally laughed through her tears.
"It's Noah, it's Noah in the room," she exclaimed.
"It's Christmas, I've just got all emotional, what's going on?!"
As part of the children's feedback session Chris had arranged for Sally earlier on in the show, his own 10-year-old son Noah, appeared to reveal his thoughts about The Snail and the Whale.
"I thought it was awesome," he had said, after he, Chris, his seven-year-old brother Ely and their friend watched a laptop private screening the night before.
Sally seemed overwhelmed with the glowing feedback from the youngster, so much so that it was all just too much.
Still crying, she spluttered: "Thank god this isn't on telly!"
"There's Christmas cheer and Christmas tears," Chris joked, before thinking of a solution.

"Do you know who we need? We need Christmas' own version of international rescue, we need Michel Bublé!"
Sally all of a sudden went from snivelling to howling with laughter, and Chris couldn't get his head round it.
"Have you been on the sherry, Sally?" He asked, baffled.
"No, wish I had!" She said.
She continued insisting her crying was because of Noah and the feedback she had received from other children.
"Bless all the little children," Chris chuckled.
"Even the pesky 10-year-olds who have asked for way too much from Santa for Christmas, you are aware of that aren't you!" He directed his attention towards his son, who was still in the studio.
Un-phased and unaware, Noah brushed it off as his dad and Sally continued to laugh.
Wonder what Father Christmas will bring Noah this year?

不过，当在克里斯的节目中听到即将上映的电影片段时，莎莉情绪失控了。
克里斯告诉大家在屏幕上看到或听到自己的声音时，莎莉“不是自己的铁粉”。
当这位前英国广播公司二台主持人带着孩子们来为她的动画表演提供反馈时，莎莉的情绪更是达到了顶峰。
“我很紧张，”她如此形容自己为《蜗牛与鲸鱼》配音时的感受。

“是我的声音吗？”莎莉问，想知道究竟是什么出卖了自己。
他继续解释道：“由于做不到在银幕上自视，莎莉不是自己的铁粉。”
“也没法听自己的声音！”她咯咯地笑着低声说。
克里斯笑着说：“她甚至听不得自己的声音，刚才只让莎莉听了一小段音频，她就死了一千回了！”

此时此刻，听众朋友们可以听到莎莉抽泣着说：“你把我弄哭了！”她呜咽着说完的同时，克里斯吃惊地笑出了声。
“我觉得这只是清早情绪多再加上咖啡喝大了的缘故吧。毕竟圣诞快到啦！”
当克里斯说：“知道吗？你在剧中干得漂亮！”试图安慰这位女演员时，听众们听到了莎莉的哭泣声。
为了转移注意力，他提议说：“我要放一首歌！”，莎莉破涕为笑。
“是挪亚，挪亚进演播间啦，”她叫道。
“圣诞将近，我太激动了，发生什么事了？！”

作为克里斯在节目录制前期为莎莉安排的儿童反馈环节的一部分，他10岁的儿子诺亚透露了自己对电影的想法。
诺亚说：“我觉得《蜗牛和鲸鱼》太棒了”，他前一晚已跟爸爸克里斯、七岁的弟弟伊利还有部分朋友通过私人放映会在电脑上看过电影了。
莎莉似乎被这个小孩子热情洋溢的反馈搞得不知所措，甚至有点过头了。
她还在哭，结结巴巴地说：“谢天谢地，这不是在电视上！”
克里斯边开玩笑说：“圣诞节既有圣诞欢呼也有圣诞眼泪，”边想怎么救场。
“你知道我们需要谁吗？我们需要圣诞版国际救援，我们需要麦可·布雷！”
听到这，莎莉突然从哭哭啼啼转为放声大笑，让克里斯瞬间有点摸不着头脑。
他困惑地问：“莎莉，你是喝雪利酒了吗？”
“没，但我希望我喝了！”她说。
莎莉继续坚称自己哭是因为诺亚和她从其他孩子那里得到的反馈。

“上帝保佑所有的小孩，”克里斯笑着说。
“即使是那些对圣诞老人要求太多的讨厌的10岁孩子，你也知道这一点，不是吗？”他把注意力转向仍在演播室里的儿子。
诺亚毫不在意，也没有意识到这一点。爸爸和莎莉继续笑着，诺亚并没有理他们。
