I can't believe I am sharing something so personal (and yeah, embarrassing), but I wish this information was on the web for when I was looking so here I go.
In my 20's I started to get Fordyce white spots on my lips. I visited my doctor and they told me it was normal, 80% of the population deals with it to some degree, there is no treatment for it.
Fordyce spots are misplaced hair follicles that have trapped oil in them. They are harmless and annoying. I apply lipstick constantly because as you can see, most of my upper lip looks like it has lost pigmentation because I have so many of these white spots.
When I found a Groupon advert for a paramedical tattoo artist in my area that specializes in camouflage I decided to research it more. There are a lot of people on the web asking if it can be done, and even one FB tattoo artist claiming that it can be, but I could not find any solid evidence or before and after pictures.
So my tattoo artist (Larissa from Cosmetic Ink in Wellesley, Ontario, Canada) agreed to do a patch test in the bottom corner of my lip two days ago. She colour matched it to my natural lip colour. We have to now watch 6 weeks to see if the colour stays put.
I am so hopeful because two days out I am thrilled that the pigment has covered up the white spots in the bottom corner! But only time will test if this will be a lasting solution and if so, I cannot WAIT.
