V is known for his 4D (four dimensional) personality and has often been called an “alien” in the past. When BTS first debuted, no one knew what V was doing, which made him very entertaining to watch. His ever-changing hobbies, unique personality/actions/body language, and sudden bursts of ingenious thought speak to his dominant Extraverted Intuition. In interviews, we often see V blanking out and staring into space, which is indicative of his strong Introverted Feeling. Unlike J-Hope, who nods and smiles at everything in English interviews despite not knowing what the interviewer is saying (Fe), it’s hard to read what V’s feeling, as his feelings are introverted (directed inward). Whenever V discovers a new hobby (be it fashion, drawing, photography, saxophone, etc.), he becomes very engrossed in it, almost as if he were trying to discover or find himself through it (Fi’s search for authenticity). Moreover, his emotional letter to Jimin in Bon Voyage strongly exudes his Introverted Feeling and Introverted Sensing. He writes that it’s difficult for him to say something so cheesy (Fi peeps usually don’t like cheesy things, as to them, it feels a bit fake), but Jimin has been his source of comfort ever since they were trainees way back when (Fi, Si). ENFPs are externally enthusiastic and naturally center people in their lives (I don’t know what accounts for this…Ne-Fi combo, perhaps?), which is seen through V’s love of playing and ability to bond with anyone. V is a competent dancer, but I read somewhere that ENFPs tend to be more physically coordinated than some other Ns, perhaps due to their Se role function. His fashion sense used to be a mess, and still somewhat is, so that also speaks to the fact that he’s an N (we NPs generally have idiosyncratic styles because we’re not as in tune with physical details). Overall, he’s a caring, peculiar, and enthusiastic person who loves people and the arts.

J-Hope is an actual ray of sunshine and explodes with energy and optimism in everything he does. He’s super whimsical (even in his rapping), very nurturing, and a killer dancer. J-Hope leads with Extraverted Feeling–he makes others feel comfortable around him through adapting to their emotional state (aka he’s super sweet), and he’s quite easy to read emotionally. Fe-doms can’t help but react to what is externally going on around them, which is why even when J-Hope tries, he can’t hide his dramatic reactions to situations. Fe is a Judging Function, which is consistent with J-Hope’s behavior–he really likes keeping tidy and constantly nags others to do their laundry.
The reason why J-Hope is an ESFJ and not an ENFJ is because his Si is rather prominent (ENFJs don’t have Si). J-Hope’s first solo song, “MAMA,” is dedicated to reflections about the past, specifically about his parents and journey as a K-pop idol. As each member had agency over what their solo song would be about, it seems that J-Hope’s past is very important to and shaped him. He also gives off Introverted Sensing vibes–he seems to have “traditional”/rooted values and is a very familial guy (e.g. when he bursts into tears at seeing his dad’s video message for his surprise birthday party…someone protect this precious person). Furthermore, he’s the best dancer on the team, and Ss tend to be more physically coordinated than Ns. J-Hope’s tertiary Extraverted Intuition can be seen through his quirky comedic tendencies on videos (see: Let’s Speak English) and his rapping style, which he always varies up.

Jimin has been heavily shipped with every member in BTS. He is naturally very nurturing and understanding–on After School Club, all the other BTS members said that Jimin listens to them best. This is indicative of dominant or secondary Fe–Jimin is someone everyone is comfortable confiding in. The reason why I cast a shadow of doubt upon his released MBTI results is that he seems oddly insecure for an ENFJ. Not to say that there can’t be insecure ENFJs or secure INFPs, but ENFJs definitely have a tendency to be confident in who they are and what they’re pursuing (due to their secondary Ni). Jimin is probably an ENFJ whose confidence has been partially stifled by past experiences of not measuring up. ENFJs always place a heavy burden on themselves to be responsible for everyone around them, meet others’ expectations, and perfect their work. During the DNA Comeback Show, Jimin revealed that during his one and half year trainee period, he was almost kicked out eight times, once before the day that BTS debuted! The fact that he was on the brink of being dropped so many times by BigHit must’ve left a huge impact on his perception of his talent and abilities, which is perhaps why he appears more insecure than most ENFJs.

PD Bang Si Hyuk has said that unlike all the other members, Jin hasn’t changed much from when he first entered the company as a trainee–he is still as sensible as before. One trait that stands out about Jin is his dependability. Recently, amidst the flurry of comeback stages that BTS has been doing, V and RapMon have been so exhausted that they could barely stand up on stage. Jin quietly checked to see whether RapMon was doing alright mid-performance and held V steady during their final pose. He is truly an altruistic fellow who really looks after all the members, exemplifying the benefits of healthy functioning Fe.
Jin has often been underrated in terms of talent, receiving nearly no lines in BTS’ songs, despite being on the Singing Line. His first solo song, “Awake,” was rejected numerous times by BigHit before they finally allowed him to release it. Despite all these external difficulties, Jin doesn’t seem to be too fazed or insecure. I don’t mean to suggest that he doesn’t have any insecurities, but his general vibes seem to be peaceful and supportive rather than angsty. Because of his mellowness (an external feature of Si) and instinctive ability to empathize with team members (Fe), Jin has a Si/Ne and Fe/Ti combination. Besides the fact that Jin is introverted (haha he has an introverted presence), I’m not entirely sure what order his functions are in. He must either be an INTP or ISFJ, but there are caveats to both diagnoses. For an INTP, Jin’s Fe has always been awfully strong, as that function is the INTP’s so-called weakness. Also, Jin has never really shared deep analyses on subjects of interest, which is allegedly what INTPs enjoy doing the most. For an ISFJ, Jin is rather physically uncoordinated. He’s one of the two worst dancers and hasn’t shined in any particular sport (I’m referring mostly to Idol Star Athletics Championships and Rookie King).

INFPs are notorious for being people who don’t often express deep emotions as well as being perfectionists. INFPs may have problems working on projects in a group because their standards are likely to be higher than other members of the group. Due to these facts, it’s not surprising that Hanbin had been chosen as the leader on iKON.
In group situations, they may have a “control” problem. The INFP needs to work on balancing their high ideals with the requirements of everyday living. Without resolving this conflict, they will never be happy with themselves, and they may become confused and paralyzed about what to do with their lives.
INFPs are usually adaptable and friendly, unless one of their ruling principles has been violated, in which case they stop adapting and become staunch defenders of their values. They will be uncharacteristically harsh and rigid in such a situation.
He is likely to react with extreme emotional distress to conflict situations, and will not know what to do about it. Since he would have no basis for determining what action to take, he would do whatever he can to get rid of the conflict - which frequently means lashing out irrationally at others or using guilt manipulation. This kind of behaviour does not bode well for healthy, long-term relationships.
