    A psalm of life
    Longfellow
    Tell me not in mournful numbers,
    Life is but an empty dream!
    For the soul is dead that slumbers
    And things are not what they seem.
    Life is real! Life is earnest!
    And the grave is not its goal;
    Dust thou art, to dust returnest,
    Was not spoken of the soul.
    Not enjoyment , and not sorrow,

      Imagism
      The aim was clarity: a fight against abstraction, romanticism, rhetoric, inversion of word order, and over-use of adjectives. They agreed on three principles:
      1. Direct treatment of the "thing" whether subjective or objective.
      2. To use absolutely no word that does not contribute to the presentation.
      3. As regarding rhythm: to compose in the sequence of the musical phrase, not in sequence of a metronome.[51]
