Marvel Comics has tapped C.B. Cebulski as its new Editor-in Chief.
Cebulksi will replace Axel Alonso in the position, effective immediately. Alonso was named Editor-in-Chief in January 2011 and has overseen a number of major Marvel Comics initiatives. According to Marvel’s announcement, the decision for Alonso to vacate the position was a mutual decision between him and the publisher.
Cebulski is a 15 year veteran of Marvel, having worked in a number of roles over the years. His most current position prior to his promotion was VP, Marvel Brand Management and Development, Asia, where he was tasked with helping to further the globalization of Marvel and its properties. Cebulski is currently living in Shanghai, but will relocate to New York City in order to work directly from Marvel’s headquarters.
“C.B. is one of the most well-known, liked and respected editors and personalities in the comics industry. He has a keen understanding of the Marvel brand, and knows the importance of publishing within the larger Marvel ecosystem,” Dan Buckley, President, Marvel Entertainment said in a statement. “Marvel has set a high bar for super hero stories for over 75 years, and we believe C.B. is perfectly positioned to take Marvel Comics to new heights.”
