Bon Jovi Working On New Material
Even though the group becomes eligible for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum next year, Bon Jovi shows no signs of old age.
The New Jersey rock band just wrapped up the final leg of its Lost Highway tour and guitarist Richie Sambora tells Billboard.com that it's already headed back into the studio to record some new material for another greatest hits package, set for release next year.
"Jon and I are writing some new songs for it and to just load up for the next Bon Jovi record," he said.
Sambora added that the band is also working on a documentary and live DVD of its Lost Highway tour, most likely for inclusion with the hits package.
He added that the next set of songs probably wouldn't have the Nashville flavor of its recent Lost Highway album.
"No, we have to change," Sambora said. "We have to do something different. I don't know what that's going to be. As we get into the writing process and continue on, we'll see what that's going to look like. I think it comes to stylistically what songs you're writing. What kind of music is coming out of you, and what's the mood of those songs. You have to color those little drawings with the right production value and the right music."
Sambora has also been keeping busy outside of the band. He not only appeared at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum Tribute Concert for Les Paul where he sang "Wanted Dead or Alive" but joined B.B. King on stage in Chicago for a PBS special. He recently recorded with Kid Rock and rapper T.I., too.
