Overdue Update
Hey guys. Sorry I haven’t been on the past few days, things have been pretty hectic. Not that its anything new, I guess its just hit me. Anyway, I'm really excited to be back in NYC and be in one place for a few days.
Wednesday was cool and fun, but definitely pretty crazy too - started my SNL rehearsals. First I shot some promos, took some photos (also for promos) and then got into the rehearsals. Read-throughs!!!! Basically, the read-through is when all of the writers, actors, and directors (and me) sit in one big room for more than 4 hours and literally read through every script. We had like 50+ scripts…and everyone starts to “act” them out. Not going to lie, I was pretty nervous and uncomfortable at first, but after a few reads I felt like I was getting the hang of it. At least that’s what the SNL guys said - but maybe they were just trying to make me feel good!
Thursday was even better. You all know that I am a huge hip hop fan…especially Lil Wayne (who is the musical guest on SNL this week). When I did introduced his performance at the VMA’s last Sunday, we didn’t actually get to meet. So today in the middle of my photo shoot, Lil Wayne rolled in and had his rehearsal. I was trying to be good and concentrate on the photo shoot but all I really wanted to do was go watch Lil Wayne. And yes, we did finally, and officially, meet. It was cool and I’m looking forward to his performance Sat night (sorry- not allowed to tell you what songs he's going to do, but it's going to be awesome).
After meeting Lil Wayne I had my skit rehearsals and I think they went pretty well. The cast/crew are really great, helping me w/ some tips which is cool. The hardest part definitely is keeping myself from laughing during everyone else's lines. So hard! The writers are unreal funny and creative, I just hope I can deliver their lines half as good as they have written them.
Today we're doing a bunch more rehearsals, then I just have to go out there Saturday night and give it my best shot. Hope you guys watch!
Btw, we're going to have some of the videos from SNL up here on Sunday or Monday.
