A local swimmer was given her time to shine in the pool at a high-profile swimming event.
Local swimmer Jorja Smith competed for Eyre Peninsula in a relay 2016 Hancock Prospecting Australian Swimming Championships recently held in Adelaide.
The relay was the opener to the Road to Rio National Championships, and saw teams from the Mid North, Riverland, Borders, Eastern District, South East, Upper North and Eyre Peninsula participate.
Jorja was ‘extremely happy’ with her individual swim despite her team not doing so well.
“The event was an absolutely fantastic experience and the atmosphere was amazing,” she said.
Jorja was also given the opportunity to meet Australian swimming legend Ian Thorpe and train with coaches Daniel Kowalski and Pat Murphy.
