Thanks for writing in. Hero drops from events are based on random drop chance, with higher-rarity heroes having a smaller drop chance than lower-rarity ones. The event that you are in determines exactly which heroes will drop and playing on harder difficulties will provide more high-rarity reward possibilities.
Aside from the above, everyone's account has the same odds on hero drops. No one's account has better or worse chances that anyone else's, even though it may feel that way some days. The exact odds haven't been made public by the game team, so unfortunately we aren't able to provide them.
As a one-time exception, we've added bonus gems to your account for your frustration. Apologies for any frustration with the drop system and if there's anything additional we can answer, let us know.
