ACT考察的标点符号

个人觉得ACT这种考察方式还是十分有用的，因为现在越来越多人，包括我自己，经常在标准英文写作的时候，经常忽视标点的使用。ACT考察最频繁的是逗号，恰好逗号的用法又是大部分学生迷惑的。希望看完楼主这篇文章大家能对逗号的标准用法有清晰的了解。
1.分隔主句和从句
如：Mark wanted to sit outside, but itwas raining.
Mark could tie the shoes himself, or hecould ask Prince to tie his shoes.
2.分隔举例时的多个名词或平行的结构
如：The hungry girl devoured achicken, two pounds of pasta, and a chocolate cake.
When he learned his girlfriend was coming over, Nathaniel tooka shower, brushed his teeth, and cleaned his room.
注意：举例的结尾或平行结构的结尾用"and" "or"，经常在and或者or前面加逗号，但是并非一定需要逗号。
3.分隔修饰名词的形容词（这两个或者多个形容词一定是位置可调换的）
如：The loud, angry protesters attacked the city office.
(it also can be the angry, loud protesters attacked the city office)
但是：I was shocked by the sight of the big blue dog.(这里的big 和blue不能调换位置，则中间不能加逗号)
4.分隔分词短语
如：Scared of monsters, Tinaalways checked under her bed before going to sleep.
5.分隔插入语或者同位语
Mark Twain, one of the most influential American writer, died in 1910.(同位语)
The old street sign, which had stood since 1970, finally fell down.(插入语)
