宝玑是瑞士殿堂级的钟表名字。创始人Abraham-Louis Breguet 阿伯拉罕。路易。宝玑，人称钟表业的达芬奇。
陀飞轮则是宝玑一生中极其伟大的发明，并于1801年取得专利权。
陀飞轮是机械钟表机芯中的一个装置，原本用于怀表之上，因为怀表垂直的放在口袋中，或者挂在颈上时，地心引力会影响摆轮摇摆速度，而造成误差。
陀飞轮在运行时会不断旋转，可以把地心引力对钟表的精确误差的影响减至最低程度，并且能在不同的水平位置对钟表已经形成的误差加以“善后补偿”。至今乃是制表业的高精尖技术。

Alexandre Dumas, Père 大仲马 在The Count of Monte Cristo (Chap. 115) 《基督山伯爵》是多次描述宝玑：
" Danglars* watch, one of Breguet*s repeaters, which he had carefully wound up on the previous night, struck half past five. Without this, Danglars would have been quite ignorant of the time, for daylight did not reach his cell.
