Posting this to address some questions, because my asks are usually about my drawing process and what colours I use for portraits.
I’ve said this before, my process is hard to explain. No, I don’t use a grid, I freehand. I do not put down one colour all over, then build with another colour on top of that. Instead, I work through and finish small areas, with multiple colours and layers, before moving to the next area and doing the same. For hair I lay in a spot with a few of the darkest colors, then add highlighted strands in lighter colours on top of that to add depth and movement. (One of the reasons I use Prismacolor pencils - you can lay light on top of dark easily.)
Hope these photos of the drawing in progress assist in the explanation. Bottom photo shows the final piece and all Prismacolor pencil colours used.
