Thanks for your letter asking about our school. Our school is no longer what it was three years ago, when there was only one building and one playground. Great changes have taken place since then. We’ve had the gate enlarged and the main road has also been widened. On the left of the old teaching building, another bigger one, which is well equipped, has been set up. And on its right, a two-storey library building has taken the place of (replaced) the small old playground. To our delight, a new standard playground has been built in what it used to be a waste land in front of our school. What’s more, in order to beautify the environment, we’ve planted a lot of trees in and around the school. Walking in the yard, you’ll find that it becomes more beautiful and harmonious. In a word, everything here takes on a new look. How I wish you could come to have a look at it now!

2, Welcome to our school. Now let me introduce it to you.
Our school is located in the northern part of Beijing. It takes you about one hour from the well-known Tian’anmen Square to get here by car. Our school was founded in 1956, when there were only 20 classrooms with less than 900 students and 100 teachers in total. But now great changes have taken place in our school in the past seven years. It is made up of two parts: the junior department and the senior department. Up to 3,000 students are now studying here and there are more than 400 teachers. We have two teaching buildings and one laboratory building, in which there is a big library with a large collection of books inside. In front of the playground stands(lies) a newly-built stadium, which seats 1,000 students. Students here study such required courses as Chinese, math, English, physics, chemistry, biology, politics, history, geography and P.E. what’s more, various elective courses are also intended for students, who can choose subjects according to their interest or hobbies.
