Macquarie Park Rotary Club & Ian Thorpe announce Celebrity Gala Dinner to fund African youth centre

Sep. 18, 2013 - SYDNEY, Australia -- On 27th September, The Macquarie Park Rotary Club and Ambassador Ian Thorpe will host a star-studded one-off, Gala Dinner initiative, proudly presented by HOPE Africa. The charity’s vision is to raise $500,000 to fund a youth centre in poverty-stricken Otjiwarongo, Namibia.I

Ian Thorpe has offered his patronage to the charity saying it is an extension of his work in indigenous communities where the opportunity to make a direct impact is possible.
“I have known Deidre for some time and we share a passion for giving children a better future,” says Mr Thorpe, “So when she returned from Namibia I knew she would want to find a way to help the children and of course she did,” he said.
