Salman Khan is rejuvenated and raring to go even after almost five hours of media interaction. This 40 plus actor seems to be getting younger with every birthday, fitter and more fab every time I meet him. Is it the glow of love or the joy of taking centrestage after letting the spotlight linger a little too long on his arch rival Shahrukh Khan? The otherwise intimidating Khan was at his animated best during the launch of his TV show Bigg Boss – Saath 7, and the man who gets women weak-kneed with his mere presence was singing, doling out jaadu ki jhappi’s and even had some wisecracks to share. But the highlight of this ten-minute interview with the superstar was not what he said, but what he did. His BIG hug when quizzed about alleged love Iulia Vantur made up for anything he refused to tell me. We know celebs who spit venom when asked about their rumoured affairs, but trust Salman Khan to be daringly different! A fun-filled though brief tête-à-tête at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai on Wednesday evening was uninterrupted by his minders, his guards standing staunchly by as the star spoke was the best experience ever.
It’s not every day that you find him singing, and the interview started on a musical note with Salman crooning ‘Hum toh paagal hojayenge aisa lagta hai’. Bigg Boss 7 seemed to be the last thing on the actor’s mind. But there was lots else to talk about…
Any plans for playback singing?
On the show I do a little bit of singing, buraa singing – I was just doing some timepass. I thought aap make-up kar rahe hongi, aap time lengi, aapka best profile kaunsa hai, lighting wighting check kar rahi hongi….
Bigg Boss is back and you are one of the most loved hosts – excited about the new season?
Khushiyo ka season aaya hai. Bigg Boss aaya hai – three months of festiveness every day from 9 to 10 pm. Kisi 14 logo ki nijee private zindagi ke andar hum tv par baithkar dekh rahe hai aur mazaa le rahe hai, aur comments maar rahe hai. How cool is that! (Cooler yet is the sarcasm!)

What would it take to get Salman Khan locked up in the Bigg Boss house?
It would take Sonia to get me locked up in the Bigg Boss house. She’s handling our PR and she’s very capable; she’s like the genius here.
If you were locked up in the Bigg Boss house, which five people would you want for company?
I would take PP, Sonia, Hiral, Bhupi Bhai and Nads, the people who are right here. (Salman‘s close associates always a part of his entourage.) Main bhool kyun raha hu – I’m actually talking about Bigg Boss season 7. Zaroor dekhiyega, it’s going to be very entertaining. Meri taraf se main full koshish karunga, main ss show main char chand lagaa doon. Lekin jab tak aap dekhonge nahi , mera char chand lagana koi faiyda nahi. Toh Monday se lekar Thursday tak aap follow karo. Uske baad Friday-Saturday main hoon. Uske baad phir se teen mahine tak yeh aapka aur mera aur yeh 14, 15, 16 jitne bhi contestants hai, unka ek connection rahega and hopefully apko iss baar Big Boss season 7 pasand aaye aur… (breaks into a song) Hum saath saath hai... Anyone from the previous season you would want back in the house?
I think Niketan (Madhok) is looking for a house. I don’t think any house is better than the Bigg Boss house (laughs). But no, we are going for all new contestants. Do contestants ko toh maine chura liya hai – Santosh aur Sana Khan ko, toh unka andar jaane ka koi chance nahi hai!
2013 was a disappointing year for Salman Khan fans – none of your films in the theatres!
But you got to see a Shahrukh Khan film! (We like the ease with which Sallu says his arch rival/competition’s name!)
Did you miss not being in the theatres this year?
No, there’s no point hurrying something. We were not ready with the film and Sohail and me are trying to give it our best. Yeh nahi ki just because there’s a date and an incredible date to release a film on and that date has been lucky for me for some time…but iska yehj matlab nahi hua ki incomplete picture, ya thok thak ke banaya hua picture release karein. So we both brothers thought that isko jamaa thikaa ke araam se mehnat karke in our best capability and dedication, we need to put this film there.
Is 2014 going to be Salman Khan’s year?
January main yeh Sohail ki film ayegi.
Is it called Jai Ho?
Arre yaar! No, Mental’s just the working title… I don’t wanna give out the title. We’re gonna launch it soon. With Bigg Boss we’ll launch it.
What about your other films?
Kick ayegi Eid par, then there’s a film with Sooraj Bharjatiya, there’s No Entry Part 2 and then there’s a film with Kabir Khan after that.
The heroines you are working with – there’s Jacqueline Fernandez and we’ve heard that Nargis Fakhri will be working with you in Sooraj Bharjatya’s next?
Really! I don’t know, they’ve not signed anybody yet for it. But Nargis Fakhri is really good – I like her energy and if there’s a film that comes I’ll definitely work with her. I think she’s lovely.

What are the shows you watch on TV?
I watch KBC, Comedy Nights with Kapil, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6, Comedy Circus. I also watch Madhubala – I love that girl Drashti Dhami, she’s awesome, I like that guy Vivian and the other guy who got shot and is not in the show any more. I also watch Sasural Simar Ka. My mother watches these, and I’m not the remote se changing guy.
Salman certainly is a changed man, I realised during the course of this interview. He has not only morphed into a cool dude from a hot-headed Khan, but also knows how to spin a story with his charm and wriggle out of a sticky situation. Does Rajkumar Hirani have a new and real life Munnabhai for his long-delayed sequel?

Salman Khan Is Ghai’s Garjan

Veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai, who is firing on all cylinders for his comeback directorial venture Kaanchi, is also gearing up for some more projects and among these is a film with Salman Khan.
We hear that the film has been titled Garjan. Ghai says, “Isn’t it apt for his personality? His films always generate a big buzz. And this goes well with my story too.”
Ghai’s next Garjan is expected to go on the floors in 2015.

They take home big pay cheques for dancing at weddings, so why not earn a buck while shaking a leg for the gods? The Navratri season has become the latest money-spinner for Bollywood stars and there are big bucks involved.
As usual Salman Khan is among the top earners and he recently recieved a request from Gujarat to make an appearance at a Navratri pandal. The whopping amount demanded by Salman bordered on approximately Rs 2 crore and the organisers were more than happy to give the actor the big pay cheque for a half-an-hour appearance.
A source close to Salman confirmed the development but remained mum on the amount, simply saying, "Yes, there has been an offer made to him for an appearance in Gujarat over the Navratri season. He is figuring out his dates to accommodate the offer."
And all this for 30 minutes of his signature brusque Sallu swagger and nothing much else.

Superstar Salman Khan is ready to host yet another season of the reality show 'Bigg Boss' and talking to us about his tremendous popularity on TV — not to mention films — he says that it’s all because his stars are on the rise.
“All this is because my star is riding high. But I have no hassles if one day this is not the case. In this life one has to undergo all kinds of situations. Not just the film industry, ups and downs are experienced by people in any business. I am prepared for any consequence and ready to tread my life the way it comes to me,” says Salman.
'Bigg Boss' is one of the most popular TV shows these days and after hosting it for a number of years, Salman says he doesn’t have a problem hosting other shows too. “I don’t have a problem being host provided I am invited and the chair is empty. Be it 'Satyameva Jayate' or 'KBC'. If Aamir or Amitabh Bachchan for some reason are not hosting, I would go ahead and host the shows.”
The superstar, who is very passionate about his charity organisation, says, “I feel ‘Being Human’ is what all of us belonging to the world of glitz and glamour need to profess and follow as well.”
Coming back to the reality show, Salman says his mother loves it. “Meri ammi ko Bigg Boss dekhna pasand hai. She watches a couple of other serials too, but she enjoys Bigg Boss very much. However, when the fights and negativity becomes too much, she stops watching it. I, too, do not like fights. But in an atmosphere where people live together for 24 hours such unpleasant things do crop up,” he concludes.”

He was interacting with a journo when he learnt that she had fallen in love with her schoolmate in Class VIII. "Gradually, we became best friends and got married," she told him.
Not the one to let an opportunity go by, Salman retorted instantly. "When you say you guys were best friends, I have no doubt about it. I don't suspect anything else, I believe you. But why don't you believe me when I say I am best friends with somebody?" he asked, leading to a huge round of applause and hoots.

Actress Deepika Padukone says she is keen to work with superstar Salman Khan but is waiting for something special to bring them together on screen.
Deepika had an acting debut offer from Salman, which happened way before she was chosen by Farah Khan for Om Shanti Om. However, she declined it then as she felt she was not ready to face the camera.
"He offered me my first film when I was too young and I was not ready to be in front of the camera. I will always be grateful to him. Just the fact that he offered me a film was a great thing. It is taking a long time for us to come together on screen, so I think there is something special waiting for us," Deepika said last night.

Delhi shootout: Salman’s manager trashes FIR

This is one sequence of events that's taking on filmi angles now. In August earlier this year, there were reports of two women, a mother-daughter duo (Jasmeet and Amrita Sethi) creating a ruckus outside actor Salman Khan's Bandra residence in Mumbai, claiming the actor had called them himself, and that they should be let in. This had resulted in the local cops booking them for assault and rash driving, but the Mumbai police, in keeping with the SC guidelines that discourage arrest of women after sundown, had let them go.
The story should have ended there - for we do keep hearing about the crazy fans and their crazier attempts to meet the stars all the time. But the whole thing took a nasty turn on Monday (September 16), and reached Delhi, when Jasmeet's husband, Hardev Singh Sethi, a Karol Bagh-based film producer, was shot at, at 6.30am on New Rohtak Road, while he was travelling in his car to his shop, by unidentified bikers on the Deshbandhu Gupta Road in central Delhi and he, in his FIR, alleged that Salman Khan and his business manager Reshma Shetty were behind the shootout.Reshma, who had already filed a complaint against them in August when the first incident outside Salman's Bandra home took place in Mumbai, said, "This is a malicious sham and a fraudulent attempt to drag me into some controversy. I do not know any such Hardev Singh. From the information at hand, he appears to be the husband and father of the two ladies who had created a ruckus in Mumbai earlier in August, and had threatened me. The Mumbai Police are investigating the offense and both these ladies have been on the run since then. I am shocked to learn about this complaint which appears to be a doctored/concocted complaint and has been filed in Delhi to sabotage the complaint filed against them at Mumbai. I hope that the Delhi Police will investigate the truth and expose the falsehood."When asked the progress regarding the shootout, Delhi Police DCP Central Alok Kumar told us, "We have filed an FIR against unknown persons for attempt to murder and under the Arms Act and investigations are on. Hardev Singh has raised suspicions of Reshma Shetty's involvement in the shootout. We are investigating the claims."But despite the cops still looking into the matter, and finding no conclusive evidence whatsoever to link the two incidents, Hardev, says, "I will surely attend the hearing at the Bombay High Court on September 21. I won't leave Reshma Shetty and Salman Khan for firing at me and jo inhone mujhe jaan se maarne ki koshish ki hai, court ke through sakht se sakht sazaa dilvaunga inko."But while the case is far from closed under the current circumstances, a source close to Salman had this to say: "My only point is that tomorrow, every desperate, crazy, wannabe person should not think they can become famous by randomly targeting a celebrity in any way. They get so much publicity with al this. It would be really helpful if the Delhi Police fast tracks this investigation, and brings out the truth. These are serious allegations, and to be thrown against anyone so randomly is not done."

In August earlier this year, TOI Mumbai had reported how two women, a mother-daughter duo (Jasmit and Amrita Sethi) hailing from Delhi and claiming to own a production house, had created a ruckus outside actor Salman Khan's Bandra house (on the night of August 29, to be precise), as they tried to barge into his home, in the process getting into a fight with the actor's security guards and abusing them. Hardev's daughter Amrita told us, "We run a production house by the name of TONS Production and had approached Reshma Shetty to fix a meeting with Salman Khan as we wanted to rope him in for a special song in our film. But she asked for one lakh rupees after which we didn't connect with her. Later, we approached Arbaaz Khan Productions to help us get in touch with Salman. We left our visiting cards there. Reshma got to know about this and she threatened us, asked us to go back to Delhi. So much so, we were even stalked and threatened by some goons sent by them. When we approached the Bandra Police Station for filing a complaint on the same, the cops didn't register our case and kept us waiting. In fact, they filed a false cases against us later on. On September 6, we filed a writ petition with the Bombay High Court against Reshma Shetty, Commissioner of Police, Bandra Police Station, State of Maharashtra and unidentified persons, the hearing for which is scheduled for September 21. They have been threatening us ever since. We have even received threatening calls from Reshma Shetty and some men who threaten us in Marathi."

This is one sequence of events that's taking on filmi angles now. In August earlier this year, there were reports of two women, a mother-daughter duo (Jasmeet and Amrita Sethi) creating a ruckus outside actor Salman Khan's Bandra residence in Mumbai, claiming the actor had called them himself, and that they should be let in. This had resulted in the local cops booking them for assault and rash driving, but the Mumbai police, in keeping with the SC guidelines that discourage arrest of women after sundown, had let them go.
The story should have ended there - for we do keep hearing about the crazy fans and their crazier attempts to meet the stars all the time. But the whole thing took a nasty turn on Monday (September 16), and reached Delhi, when Jasmeet's husband, Hardev Singh Sethi, a Karol Bagh-based film producer, was shot at, at 6.30am on New Rohtak Road, while he was travelling in his car to his shop, by unidentified bikers on the Deshbandhu Gupta Road in central Delhi and he, in his FIR, alleged that Salman Khan and his business manager Reshma Shetty were behind the shootout.Reshma, who had already filed a complaint against them in August when the first incident outside Salman's Bandra home took place in Mumbai, said, "This is a malicious sham and a fraudulent attempt to drag me into some controversy. I do not know any such Hardev Singh. From the information at hand, he appears to be the husband and father of the two ladies who had created a ruckus in Mumbai earlier in August, and had threatened me. The Mumbai Police are investigating the offense and both these ladies have been on the run since then. I am shocked to learn about this complaint which appears to be a doctored/concocted complaint and has been filed in Delhi to sabotage the complaint filed against them at Mumbai. I hope that the Delhi Police will investigate the truth and expose the falsehood."When asked the progress regarding the shootout, Delhi Police DCP Central Alok Kumar told us, "We have filed an FIR against unknown persons for attempt to murder and under the Arms Act and investigations are on. Hardev Singh has raised suspicions of Reshma Shetty's involvement in the shootout. We are investigating the claims."But despite the cops still looking into the matter, and finding no conclusive evidence whatsoever to link the two incidents, Hardev, says, "I will surely attend the hearing at the Bombay High Court on September 21. I won't leave Reshma Shetty and Salman Khan for firing at me and jo inhone mujhe jaan se maarne ki koshish ki hai, court ke through sakht se sakht sazaa dilvaunga inko."But while the case is far from closed under the current circumstances, a source close to Salman had this to say: "My only point is that tomorrow, every desperate, crazy, wannabe person should not think they can become famous by randomly targeting a celebrity in any way. They get so much publicity with al this. It would be really helpful if the Delhi Police fast tracks this investigation, and brings out the truth. These are serious allegations, and to be thrown against anyone so randomly is not done."

Salman Khan's hit-and-run case: Court rejects activist's plea

A sessions court today rejected the plea of a social activist seeking to intervene in the 2002 hit-and-run case allegedly involving actor Salman Khan to help the prosecution in the trial.
Judge S D Deshpande ruled that only an aggrieved party, complainant or witness had a right to intervene.
In this case, the applicant, Santosh Daundkar, was neither a witness, complainant nor an aggrieved party. Hence, he could not be allowed to intervene, the court said.

Miss Universe 2012 starts India tour

Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo on Friday began her official tour of India. She will raise concern about the girl child issues in the country. Designer Sanjana Jon will accompany her for the tour.
"It is such an important social cause. We will be celebrating the girl child and are against violence against women. We needed someone like her who is so young and has the heart to associate herself with such a cause," Jon said.
Culpo, 21, will also be going to Mumbai, where superstar Salman Khan will be associating himself with the cause.
"She will go to Mumbai as well. Salman Khan will join us in a press conference there. Other people from the fraternity like Lata Mangeshkar (singer) and Sajid-Wajid (composer duo) will also be joining the cause," she added.
The Miss Universe is visiting India for the first time and she will be seen in Indo-western attires.
"She will be wearing Indo-western skirts and lehengas. She will also be in a sari for a photo shoot as it is tough for someone to wear a sari if they are not used to it. I also want her to wear a traditional Punjabi suit," said Jon.
Jon also said that Culpo has shown her love for Hindi films and might even be interested to be a part of the movie industry.
"She is perfect for Bollywood. She loves our movies. I think she will be interested to be a part of the industry as well. I hope she and Salman bhai work together," Jon said.
