On the bridge in heavy morning traffic I can't hear a word the actor or director say. I guess when and where they'll move, and when emotion seem close to bursting I pan discreet away- but what should be a smooth transition turns into a quick pan. It's not a stylistic choice: I'm barely balanced on two apple boxes, and they're shifting from under my feet.
在桥上置身于繁忙的清晨交通,我根本听不到演员或导演的话。我猜测他们什么时候走,往哪走;当情绪似乎要爆发时我就小心翼翼的把镜头摇开…但本应是流畅的过渡变成了个快摇(? @bobowingwing quick pan这个术语中文怎么说?快摇?急摇?)…这不是一个风格上的选择:我站在两个装苹果的箱子上,几乎不能平衡,而且它们正从我的脚下移开。

Dunkin'(邓肯?)甜圈
(幽梦:好像中国还没这连锁店,不知Dunkin Donuts有没官方的中文翻译……)
Can't work out why people queueoutside Dunkin' Donuts on Florida Street Downtown. There's no crowdinside, but at least thirty in the cold outside. Are donuts aphrodisiacshere? Are there uses for donuts only Argentina knows?
弄不明白为什么市中心佛罗里达街上的Dunkin甜圈店外排着长队。店里没一个人,在寒冷的街上却至少站了三十个。难道这里的甜圈里有春药?难道甜圈有只有阿根廷才知道的用途?

A little too much of the wrongcolored light distracts me when I view the rushes of our gay-cinemascene. No one else will see these images the way I do, but I see themthis way. Why did I accept 'realism' instead of making 'poetry'? It's the little details that hurt the most. Consoling myself with a 'youlearn by your mistakes' isn't going to change the scene or the light.
当我看同性电影院那场戏的毛片时,稍微强了点的杂色光分散了我的注意力。没有人会像我这样看这些画面,但我是这样看的。为什么我接受“现实”,而不是“诗意”?细微之处见功夫。安慰自己说“你会在错误中学习”是不会改变这场景或光线。

259楼的这句应该这样翻:
I'm pushing the film-stock so much that we're losing the blacks.
我把生胶片迫冲的太厉害了,都开始失去黑色了。
“迫冲”是摄影的专业术语:指的是再冲洗/后期制作过程中强制性的提高胶片的感光度,令到拍出来的效果更光亮--虽然这样做并不能实际提高胶片的感光度。所以当杜可风迫冲过了头的时候,这片子开始失去原本应该有的黑色。

Abattoir
An old vegetarian like me just has to laugh: our meat-eating crew is wilting, throwing up at the sounds and smells of the slaughter of cows. I always believed that, 'If you can't kill it, you don't deserve to eat it.' If killing cows is disturbing, what do war and abortion do to your daily life? Tony (who has to play a slaughterhouse worker) gets drunk. The crew members are coating their stomachs with yogurt and scrubbing their hands very hard.
屠场
像我这样的长期的素食者不得不笑:我们吃肉的摄制组蔫儿了,在宰杀牛的声音和气味中不停呕吐。我始终坚信,“如果你不能杀了它,你就没资格去吃它。”如果杀牛是令人不安的,那么战争和堕胎又对你的日常生活有什么影响?Tony(演一个屠宰场工人)喝醉了。工作人员用酸奶填着肚子和拼命地搓洗着他们的手。

Overcompensating
We've been joking lately about how many shots we're doing per scene. 'Our basic two?' I ask about the passport scene. 'No,' replies Wong, 'I want to make it more choppy - at least one cut per phrase.' We end up with fourteen different angles for five lines of dialogue. ' I think we've over compensated this time,' I say after the fourteenth shot.
过度补偿

Star System
Leslie is back, but not for long enough to make the trip to the northernmost border where we planned to shoot the opening scenes. These days Wong is regretting his preference for working with stars. They consume most of our budget and our energies, and their comings and goings force us to change story lines and even dictate how much sleep we get. We have to accommodate their schedules... and pamper their moods. The one consolation is that we get the last word. At the end of the day, we're the ones who get to throw them on the (cutting-room) floor.
明星体制
Leslie回来了,但却不够时间让我们到北端的边境去拍计划中的开场片段。这段时间王(家卫)在后悔自己偏爱与明星合作。他们消耗我们最多的预算和精力,他们的来来往往迫使我们改变故事情节,甚至主宰我们能睡多久。我们必须迁就他们的日程安排...纵容他们的情绪。值得安慰的是,我们有最终的话语权。最后,是我们把他们扔在(剪接房的)地板。

Mosquito Capital of the World
4am on what the script describes as'a pampas road far into the countryside'. Our 'road movie' is takingshape in bits and pieces by a slip road two hours south of Buenos Aires. Leslie sleeps/Tony eats. Tony drinks/Leslie sulks. Tony tries tothump some sound out of the car radio/Leslie can't read the map. Theyargue. Leslie leaves. Tony cries. We start shooting justafter dawn has broken. Leslie leaves Tony in a fog both real andmetaphorical across a vast, grassy space dissected by the approach roads to thePatagonia Highway. This distances are huge. Leslie walks and Tonychases. Everyone's out of breath. We're almost out of film, each take isso long. I sit in the long grass trying to keep my hand-held camera alittle steadier than my nerves. Five seconds into the next five-minutetake, my hand stings. Then my left cheek.... and my rightear. I hear the sounds of many hands slapping much flesh. Myassistant slaps my thigh. There's a sudden piercing pain in myballs. Wong himself finally can't take it any more. He shouts out,'Cut!' I jump up screaming, ' Welcome to the mosquito capital of theworld!'

世界蚊子之都

凌晨4点,在剧本里所谓 “通向遥远乡村的南美草原的路上”。我们的“公路电影”开始零零碎碎的在布宜诺斯艾利斯以南两个小时的一条岔道上成形了。Leslie睡觉/Tony吃饭。Tony喝饮料/Leslie生闷气。Tony敲打汽车收音机试图让它发出声音/Leslie不会看地图。他们争吵。Leslie离开。Tony哭泣。我们在刚刚破晓时开始拍摄。通往Patagonia高速路的通道截断了广袤的草地,Leslie把Tony抛弃在既真实又有象征性的雾里。这个距离是极大的。Leslie在走;Tony在追。每个人都上气不接下气。我们几乎没胶片了,每个镜头都这么长。我坐在长草里,努力让我的手持摄相机比我的神经更稳定一些。下一个五分钟的拍摄才过了五秒,我的手感到一阵刺痛。然后,是我的左脸......接着是我的右耳。我听到许多双手拍打我的皮肉的声音。我的助手在拍打我的大腿。突然,从我的蛋蛋处传来一阵撕心裂肺的痛。王(家卫)自己终于坚持不住了。他大喊:“Cut(停)!”我跳起来尖叫道:“欢迎来到世界蚊子之都!”

为什么不可以楼中楼了?这里是关于374楼的: 好像中文现在也是说“Cut”的,不是吗?要不然说“停”?加上哥哥在《色情男女》里都是直接说“action”啊,“cut”啊的……
