Dear readers, followers, and supporters worldwide ~ to the people of our
beloved Libya…. Congratulations on our freedom!
Today marks the official day of Libya’s Liberation. For 42 years we waited, for
8 months we fought, and today we celebrate. Today a new dawn of hope and
honor has risen over Libya.
February 15th was the day Libyans changed the world. They showed the world
who the true Libyans are. Libyans of all ages, professions, races, backgrounds
—
from all cities, and from all walks off life, rose together as ONE to demand
their rights with a powerful message
–
we win or we die.
In the face of fierce resistance the people sacrificed themselves for their rights
and the rights of their children and grandchildren. Our men, young and old,
picked up arms and had no fear in the face of evil.
When the world doubted the Libyan people, we proved them wrong. When the
odds were against us, we defied reason. When all hope was lost, we put our
trust in God. When the struggle was too much to bear, we fought harder.
As we witness history unfold and our struggle come full circle, we are so proud
to have been there each step of the way. The uprising began on February 15th
in Benghazi, and today it ends there today with our liberation. This is the
moment we all prayed, waited, and hoped we would live to see. Libyans
deserve this moment.
To those who gave their lives protesting in the streets, this is your day. To
those who fought to protect our people, this is your day. To those who were
beaten, tortured, and killed in prison cells, this is your day. To the children
who lost their limbs, this is your day. To the journalists who died trying to
show the world our struggle, this is your day. To our injured fighters, this is
your day. To the mothers who lost their children, this is your day. To our
heroes,
the shuhada
, from the past 42 years, this is your day.
This is our day Libya. The time for freedom has arrived.
Long Live Free Libya. God bless.
