John McEnroe has said that he doesn't expect Roger Federer to win any more grand slam titles.
The player widely regarded as the greatest of all time was knocked out in the second round at this year's Wimbledon by Sergiy Stakhovsky, a player ranked 116 in the world.
For a player who has won at the All England Club seven times, the defeat to Stakhovsky has left many questioning whether his time at the top is now over.
Speaking to the BBC, McEnroe, who won three Wimbledon titles during the 80s, said: "No (he won't win an 18th grand slam), I don't think that's going to happen. I don't think he's going to win any more majors."
The American commentator and analyst did believe his words might inspire the 31-year-old, whose last major title came at Wimbledon last year with victory over Andy Murray in the final.
"He might just think 'that McEnroe, I'll show him'."
Also speaking to the BBC, Tim Henman disagreed.
"One more - I think he's got one more shot at Wimbledon here next year," said the four-time semi-finalist at SW19.
