Taiora: Good friends, nothing more. Taichi feels obliged to
save everyone anyway, and he cried so much because of his immature acts despite
Sora was against it and his courage had gone in face of death.
Sorato: Hints throughout the series, yup. But I think Sora
was too compliant although she understood his feelings (both on the sensitive
side) and when he was a conflicted person. He said he want to be left alone
when he really needed for companions. They’re too similar that’s why they
cannot be together. They will wallow in their bubbles for the exact same thing,
while Yamato will resort to violence that Sora will never resist. Yamato needed a Taichi to really snap him out of it with actions, because he is generally a shy person, so he needed a boisterous person as complement to bring the cheerful side of him. Sora and Yamato are too sensitive for their own good and are offended and put off by slightest thing, and what they need is a change of perspective, and that’s what they cannot provide for each other. I just don’t think they have the chemistry, but as friends they would do really well. Sora changed to a Mary Sue for Yamato, and Yamato is also getting stereotypical, to fit each other they have to change (not for the better), because if they remained the same, they will be a broken couple because although they seem to understand each other, it stopped at that level.
Taito: Best coupling ever, honestly. Taichi kept track on
Yamato’s emotions and was content if he was happy, believed in him no matter
what, was not afraid to let his dark side out and let him vent his anger on
him. He was also creative and very outgoing, a complement with Yamato’s
artistic and shy side. Taichi always see the best of things so he will bring
out the best of Yamato when he started to see stupid and dark things by letting
his anger out and guide him by using words and leave him alone when he REALLY
need it. Yamato also mentioned that he wouldn’t cry in front of anyone else,
not even Gabumon, but he cried TWICE in front of Taichi. And when Taichi is
pictured as insensitive, the only person that Taichi is really sensitive to is
Yamato. He watched him from afar and thought about him and his actions,
reflectively. Yamato also influenced Taichi to think everything over. They
invoked a change of perception and mindset in each other. “Whatever Taichi says
or does bugs you so much that you can’t help but react to it. That’s how big an
existence Taichi lies in your heart.” Quote from Jureimon/Cherrymon. None of
them has this effect on Yamato. The most obvious point of the relationship
would be: They will never have to pretend or change themselves for each other
because they can show what they are freely. Taichi would accept what Yamato is,
and Yamato would love how Taichi is once he got over his confusion because
Taichi clearly had the greatest impact on him.
Taishirou: Awesome. Taichi and he have best relationship
ever. Taichi brought Koushirou out of his shell and prompted him to speak
normally, and actively participate and show his emotions. It is also shown that
Taichi believed whole-heartedly in Koushirou, but that sorta changed in the
fight with Piedmon. Either Taichi don’t want him to get hurt, or he gauged the
powers accordingly because he wanted Yamato to come first. Taichi planned the
attack out carefully, to maximize the Perfect’s powers, because Piedmon is
supposedly the strongest out of the Dark Masters.
Takari: It’s not the couple’s fault that their fans are
stupid, jeez. They had the best chemistry in 01 (obviously) and in 02, their
relationship although quiet and developed off screen, but I believe it’s based
on mutual trust and belief, and a telepathy kind of gentle bond. In sync in
everything else, they’re begging to be mainstream (and they did). I like it
when your partner understands everything you do, and supports you throughout.
Except for the crest, digimon and brother thing, they are more alike in the
sense that they did not show their emotions clearly. People find Takeru bland
and Hikari quiet, but in reality they’re both restraining their desires and
problems because they’re supposed to let their brothers to not to get too
overprotective for them, and their crests are the ones that are giving instead
of take. (** see explanation below) Their dark sides will lurk in their hearts
and manifest, but because they understand each other perfectly they can help
one another out of the pain. Hikari cared about Takeru greatly and Takeru did
so for her, evidence throughout the series, most prominent in “His Master’s
Voice”. They supported each other and shared a link that no one else can ever
understand. Takeru will protect Hikari at any cost, and Hikari trusted him
whole-heartedly just like she did to her brother. They needed each other.
Jurato: Takato obviously loved Juri, proceeding to confess,
and want to save her and saving the world seems secondary (Terriermon did the
job :P)
