最近为准备魔兽3的文章在搜集资料时,看到了这样一句话。

最令我自豪的特色就在于单位选择,和Dune2不一样,开始多单位战斗不再需要疯狂地点击鼠标,玩家可以在其中多选单位来加速战斗部署,能够明显地提升游戏战斗。
我相信Warcraft指第一个使用这种操作模式的,当我第一次实现这一特色功能,从此可以同时选择和控制大量单位,选择单位的数目并没有限制。

Patrick Wyatt在讲述魔兽争霸1开发经历时,说过的。
也就是说,框选多个单位进行战斗是魔兽争霸1最先应用的设定。
暴雪太不容易了。

      “。。。。后来在和团队成员对此讨论设计问题后,我们决定允许玩家一次最多仅可选择4个单位,以保证玩家注重战略部署而不是简单的拖动一群暴民打一次性群架。后来,我们在Warcraft II里把这个限制增加到9。命令与征服,Dune2的精神继承者,并没有在单位选择的数量上加限制,这也是个很值得思考和讨论的设计分歧。。。。”

        王国兴起一次最多选10来个人,非常不爽。调兵的时候得分多次。这个一次选四个的设定也是过虑了。

          以前大多数人把框选上限当技术瓶颈看,这篇文章如果属实,那实际上是有意为之。当然,无上限框选是潮流。但是如何在无上限框选的同时力求保证玩家注重战略部署,我看光头大概就没想过这个问题。
          另外其实在这里框选上限本身并不重要,重要的是体现出当时暴雪程序设计者的视角:重视规则设定变化对战略战术的影响,而非毫无控制。这么看之后星际能成为竞技对战类RTS之王,也就并非偶然了。

            role-playing strategy game
            Blizzard shows off the latest build of its upcoming role-playing strategy game.
            It's been several months since we've seen Warcraft III, so Blizzard stopped by today to give us a look at the latest version of the developing game. Although there aren't a lot of new features in this build when compared with the ECTS version shown in early September, there are a few more subtle changes and new insights into the existing units and environments.
            We were impressed by the increasingly detailed environments. In one lava level, sections of the ground were cracked and glowing like red-hot embers. Geysers spewed bubbling balls of fire into the air, and great fingers of molten rock jutted up from the landscape. We also got to see a demonstration of the camera controls, which will not be available for the players but are used in the game's cinematics. In those cases, the camera could zoom down and tilt back to offer a level view of the terrain and characters. Then, when the cutscene is finished, the camera will snap back to the default overhead view.
            We learned a few new things about the existing units, including many of the new spells for the heroes and a new "giant" class of unit types. We also got a look at some of the buildings and learned more about the tech tree. For more information, check back next Tuesday, when we'll post a new Warcraft III preview update. In the meantime, check out these three new screenshots. The screens show an orc warlord letting out a raging scream, two orcish catapults attacking a human fortification, and wolf raiders coming upon a neutral settlement. You'll notice that in the warlord screenshot, the warlord hero has a unique name. All heroes will now have randomly generated names to distinguish them from each other. We'll reveal more names and more of the differences between heroes in our upcoming preview.

              接着看下早期版本的图片,信息量很大~~


              先知和月女都是飞行英雄~最终版可能为了平衡性考虑,取消了飞行英雄~

                  Controls are something that will be quite a challenge to those new to the game. Features that RTS gamers value - Selecting multiple units and assigning a number to a group of units, are lacking here. You can only select up to 4 units at the same time, and there is no number-grouping. While this might make the game hard and undesirable to play, it also improves it well, forcing the player to pay good attention in order to coordinate an effective attack. You can't rush here, as there are some pathfinding issues, and the costs of the units are high, making your units more valuable.

                    另外看英文原文,更精确的翻译应该是“以保证玩家注重*战术*部署调度,而不是简单的拖动一群暴民*同时*上去打群架。”

                      西木头第一个实现的多选单位。暴雪当然要自己研发多选单位功能。程序代码你自己不研发你到哪儿去盗版。
