8 DAYS: Tell us everything. From the start.
QI YUWU: We’ve known each other for so long. It’s not that we-just-met feeling. For the past 10 years, we may not have been constantly in each other’s lives, but we have done a lot of dramas together, and each drama takes two to three months to film. So I more or less know what she’s like. The energy I feel when I am with her is very special. Every time I come back from China and film something with her, I would observe something different about her. Also, these past couple of years have been a period of self-discovery for me. I learned to let go of my almost-desperate desire to succeed in my career and discovered what was important in life. I guess we both changed to a point that when we filmed C.L.I.F 2 this time, it was just so easy and enjoyable. We didn’t even have to try.
So the chemistry has always been there.
We have a very mental kind of connection. Sometimes, in this line, this kind of connection is a kind of fate. I feel I can be very direct with her. I’d tell her something — be it criticism or suggestions — and she can take it. There’s no need to go round in circles. There’s a trust between us. She has always said the things I tell her make her think. When you have this kind of communication and connection, what else do you need? We don’t need anything else.
