Howard Webb MBE to visit York St John University
Premiership and International Football Referee, Howard Webb MBE, is visiting York St John University to deliver a free public lecture, Leading the Field, on Thursday 21 February.
Howard is an accomplished referee, commended for his work in football officiating for being the first man to referee the UEFA Champions League final and the FIFA World Cup final in the same year. York St John University recognised Howard’s huge contribution to sport in 2011 by awarding him an honorary degree, Doctor of Health Sciences (honoris causa).
Howard is returning to the University to give a lecture as part of York St John’s Go York series. Leading the Field will focus on Howard’s journey from grassroots football to the World Cup final, looking at the personal skills and attributes required. During the talk, Howard will highlight the importance of self-belief, perseverance and teamwork, giving those in attendance an insightful and unique look into the high-profile world of Howard Webb’s career.
Go York is a series of lectures which bring together York St John University’s eminent academics, high profile speakers and the local community for a series of events to be enjoyed by all.
Leading the Field will take place in Temple Hall, York St John University at 6:30pm on Thursday 21 February attendees are welcome to arrive from 5:45pm for refreshments and the opportunity to network.
