What a year it has been not just for sport but for British sport. The Olympics, after all the classic British whining it actually turned out great. 3rd overall in medals that’s just an achievement in itself. Not just for the Olympics the Paralympics. Team GB has made so much ground this year. I don’t know about you but this summer, I have never been so proud of my fellow Brits. It’s not also a tribute to the Olympics. It’s a tribute to many other sports. Formula 1, English football, Tour de France, horse racing, rugby, darts and many others. Tonight as SPOTY 2012 goes on I will update you on every award that is announced and also other honours…

The winner is… Josef Craig. Well done Josef. I’m sure you will go on to more success. 20:30 GMT: The Helen Rollason award goes to a woman who was late for work. She jumped into the train and at that moment she was the victim if the 06 bombings in London. She had no legs after that. She then tried sitting volleyball and loved it, skip to now and she is now an Olympic athlete. Martine Wright is the winner of the Helen Rollason award.

The winner is Dave Brailsford well done excellent year for British cycling, well deserved. 22:12 GMT: David Beckham presents the lifetime achievement award to the man who fought for our right to host London 2012. One of the greatest runners we have ever produced. Sebastian Coe is rightly so given the 2012 lifetime achievement award. And now the moment it’s all come down to. The presentation. In 3rd place Andy Murray. Well done. A tennis inspiration to many Brits. In 2nd place Jessica Ennis. The face of London 2012. An inspiration to many young girls everywhere. And the 2012 Sports Personality Of The Year is Bradley Wiggins. Since 2008 three cyclists have won SPOTY (Sir Chris Hoy and mark cavendish) Bradley wiggins has had a dream year.
