当我们掌握了英语中的形容词及副词比较级之后，就必须要了解其灵活的用法。莱曼在教学实践中发现，比较级的灵活运用大量出现在阅读理解中，同时也是初级英语考试中必考的项目之一。有关比较级的初级基础知识将不再本讲赘述，在此，将更加侧重比较级的灵活运用。

详解辨析：
1. more and more serious
同一个形容词或副词用 and 联接，表示“越来越......”
(1) hotter and hotter The weather is getting hotter and hotter since summer is coming.
(2) heavier and heavier The dog is getting heavier and heavier,and it eats more and more now.
(3) more and more expensive The vegetables get more and more expensive,for less and less people like to stay in the countryside.
2. the more, the better
“越多越好”，前面为一个形容词的比较级，而后面由 better 做补充说明，表示“越......越好”。但前后两个词都要用定冠词 the 修饰。
The faster,the better.
The busier,the better.
The more careful,the better.
The less expensive,the better.
3. sooner or later
迟早,为固定词组。
You will have the trouble sooner or later if you forget the experience. Sooner or later,he will make a mistake again.
4.the more you eat, the heavier you will get.
你吃得越多，体重就会越重。 将比较级至于句首，表示强调。而其后的句子则表示说明。
The faster you run,the more tired you will feel. The more exercises you do, the stronger you will grow.

5. ‘d better do....
为固定句型，表示“最好去......”。’d = had
You’d better go over your lessons on the weekend. Sooner or later , you will take a test on them.
They’d better not play too much video game, or they will miss the enjoyment of the real life.
注意上述句型，否定句式为在 better 之后直接加 not,而无需助动词。另，此句型中动词永远用动词原形。
