Prologue (1) : A letter from X
October, 2136
Singapore
“As we’ve discussed several weeks ago, Mr. Laurens, My order should be clear; you are required, by all means, to get the Heart of Music from Miss Charlotte and deliver it to me, as for the location, you will receive further information when you obtain what is needed.” Mr. Laurens—as he was usually referred as, is a rather mysterious man from England. For what reasons he came to Singapore, no one had a clue. “You have no say about this deal, for as I was able to bring you up to this position, I am, in the same way, able to crush you.”
Mr. Laurens was a man in his thirties, ripped, tall , light-eyed and had black hair (currently)—he posed a prosperous businessman, but in reality, he was not just any simple being.
He frowned as his maid read him the letter. Noticing his displeasure, she paused, and fixed her gaze at her master, as if to ask whether she should stop. He gave a signal for her to carry on. The maid obeyed and looked back at the light-blue letter. He slumped at his couch and lit a cigarette.
“I will not repeat this—this mission is very important to me. The reason why I gave you a chance to do it is because I have that little respect for you—otherwise you would still be living as a beggar in England. Fail me—and you can accompany your sister in the other world. –X ” Laurens choked on his cigarette. The maid rushed over to help him. When he calmed down, he opened the envelope again. He saw two pictures. At which he decided that the Heart of Music was probably only a rare necklace of high value, a silver necklace with a treble clef shaped diamond; nothing much to take notice of. What he stared at was the photo of that lady—Charlotte Evans, a fellow Brit. He pondered for a moment. Surely this was nothing to difficult for himself? After all, it’s just snatching jewelry from a mere lady—child’s play. This assured him the high rate of success. He got up, and faced his maid , “I’ll be away for a while. Days, pherhaps weeks, Oh ,I can’t be sure. You know what to do.” The maid meekly nodded.
