It's my birthday.

When I am hanging out here, I am interested in how foreigners are learning Chinese.
And I come across this website: chinese-forums
com.
Here is a funny topic they discuss.
"It's my birthday." <--This is a complete sentence in English.
If to translate into Chinese, it is:
是我的生日”.<--This is not a complete sentence in Chinese.
Here are the questions:
(1) Is "Is my birthday" correct?

(2) If the above sentence is correct, what's the correct translation in Chinese?

I suppose it is correct, it's is used to referring something (which in this case would be "today"), but since original sentence doesn't have "today" in it, you can't really translate it into that unless in a given context.
Besides, it would be correct to use it in a conversation like this:
    What day is today?
    It's my birthday.
————The days keep passing by... ————And we still chase the same star we once saw.
