Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi not keen on Manchester City or Chelsea move
Daniele De Rossi, the 28-year-old Roma midfielder, has denied rumours linking him to the English Premier League sides Manchester City and Chelsea. The Italy international is in high demand, but is reportedly not keen on leaving the Serie A side.
Big spending Manchester City and Chelsea are so far the clubs in the lead to sign De Rossi, but the player is hoping to renew his contract with Roma. According to recent reports the contract talks have come to a halt as both parties could not reach an agreement.
It is for this reason that there has been speculation linking De Rossi with a move away, which would most likely take place in the January transfer window since his current contract expires next summer. The winter transfer window would be Roma’s only opportunity to make some money on the midfielder.
It is no secret that the Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is keen to add the Italian midfielder to his squad, after admitting be a fan of his. With the amount of spending money the Citizens have, Mancini will be able to offer a much higher price for the player than any other club.
Chelsea on the other hand, are also admirers. The Blues’ manager Andre Villas-Boas is looking to strengthen his midfield and could definitely use someone like De Rossi. While he is not a goal scoring midfielder, he is consistent and would fit in well at the London club.
De Rossi, who began his senior football career at Roma in 2001, revealed he did not want to part ways with the Italian outfit. Into his eleventh season at the club, he has made a total of 362 appearances in all competitions and has scored 44 goals.
De Rossi said in an interview:
“Everything is at an impasse.
We have discussed the issue in recent weeks and I am sure we will find a good solution for everyone.
I will not put pressure on Roma. I never said I would sign for another club and that's true - that would not be just, considering I get on with those in charge.”
