Lady Gaga took the stage at the MTV Video Music Aid Japan at Chiba City tonight. The singer stunned fans with a spectacular performance of songs from Born This Way, which currently sits in the top 10 of the Japanese albums chart and is already certified platinum. Tonight’s event will raise funds for the Japanese Red Cross to support the victims of the March 11th tsunami and earthquake disaster.
Gaga opened the show trapped in a giant spiderweb for the performance of her latest hit “The Edge of Glory.” As she broke free from the web – a metaphor for adversity – Gaga ripped off her teal extensions and joined the dancers to finish the song.

Then, the performer climbed to the top of the stage to sing “Born This Way” on a giant custom-made piano inspired by Maman, the ten metre spider sculpture by Louise Bourgeois, located in Roppongi Hills in Tokyo. Watch Gaga’s performance in Japan below…
