Take the Quan Jing Quan Fa Bei Yao (Essentials of Boxing Classics and Techniques) published during the Republic of China era as an example. This book, compiled by Zhang Kongzhao of the Qing Dynasty and annotated by Cao Huandou, includes some rare boxing manuals, verses, and fighting methods from Shaolin martial arts, such as Shaolin Temple Short-Strike Body Method Orthodox Boxing Manual, Shaolin Temple Short-Strike Push-Disc Footwork, On Eight-Sided Shoulder Techniques, Song of the Drunken Eight Immortals, and Rescues from Deadly Moves. It truly reproduces the original appearance of Shaolin boxing during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. Its statement that "store the spirit at the tip of the eyebrows, circulate qi in the waist and lower abdomen" even reveals the essence of Shaolin boxing.
